So lets move on from miracles, at least until I see one.

20 Then God said, “Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens.” 21 So God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. 22 And God blessed them, saying, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth.” 23 So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

So here God made every living animal in one day if we take this as his literal word. You see this is where the bible as the word of God breaks down a bit for me. I realise you will always argue about the fossil record but there is far too much evidence for me to reject in favour of every animal being created at the same time.

It's just too much science for me to dismiss if I'm really honest with you.

The fossil record is a result of the Flood discussed later in Genesis.

When you read this you see theories of men. When I read this I see my amazing God, artist of life. I have only heard of you looking for some type of evidence of the material, of the creation of stones and animals, but where do you think love, creativity, beauty, and compassion came from. Do you believe in love?

Do you think animals have personalities or they are just solid form structures?

You're going a bit off track here Olivia. Love is a result of social behaviour. Creativity is what?

Beauty is completely subjective, I don't see any beauty in a child suffering with tapeworm or an early death from Malaria. I don't see any beauty whatsoever in a Botfly burrowing itself into a young boys eye rendering him blind.

I see absolutely no beauty in children given no future because they are passed an HIV virus from their parents.

Compassion comes from a natural instinct through evolution to ensure the survival of the (your) species and is well demonstrated throughout the animal kingdom.

Love is up for debate, I think it's a modern manufactured word that encompasses many emotions. Nobody can describe it convincingly for me, I care about my family and there would be little that I wouldn't do to ensure their well-being and happiness. I think love is a bit of an over-used word really and means almost nothing, I can describe my feelings towards those I care about in real words without resorting to that.

I don't believe that everything was created in six literal days. You pretty much have to believe that every scientist in the world that studies anything involving the age of the earth are liars to hold a young earth view. I have always held an old earth view and I see no problem with that. "Days" could easily mean set amounts of time. There is also the gap theory, which I think has been discussed somewhere on this forum before. Anyway, here's three links you may enjoy. I don't believe in getting hung up on creation type questions among believers, since Jesus should always be our main focus, but I do enjoy reading about it. I'm not anywhere near intelligent enough to explain all of it so hopefully the links help.

But science can't answer the first child-like question: which came first the chicken or the egg?

Scriptures say the chicken. Since that may be too simple the next questions is: every living thing has DNA, so, chickens consist of proteins. The code for each protein is contained in the DNA/RNA system. However, proteins are required in order to manufacture DNA. So which came first: proteins or DNA? The ONLY explanation is that they were created together.

The problem then becomes Who wrote the DNA? DNA is the medium by which information is transmitted, like a DVD. The DVD's plastic shell isn't why you buy it, you buy it for the information. Who put the information in the DNA to make the chicken, or the egg?

I don't see beauty in the tragedies that you are stating as well. But don't you see beauty in anything? Let's take birds since we are speaking of animals. If I look it up there are 10,000 known species and 22, 000 sub species. You don't find any birds beautiful (like the real colorful ones). Is there anything you find beautiful? When you look in the ocean at all the different types of fish and animals can you find any that you think are beautiful? You don't think the sunlight reflected off the ocean waves is beautiful?

Since you believe love is a result of social behavior who initially had love that the behavior was passed on socially.

Even if you think love comes from behavioral learning you don't find it beautiful when someone gives up what they have to go to an unknown place to help the child with Malaria because they have love for them?

So what is beauty?
I agree that beauty is subjective which is why I brought up some things as possibilities for you but wanted to know if you find anything beautiful.

This is a definition from dictionary.com, "the quality present in a thing or person that gives intense pleasure or deep satisfaction to the mind, whether arising from sensory manifestations (as shape, color, sound, etc.), a meaningful design or pattern, or something else (as a personality in which high spiritual qualities are manifest)."

So according to this definition, is anything beautiful to you?

I still want to know however, since you believe love is a result of social behavior who initially had love that the behavior was passed on socially and do you think animals have unique personalities or they are just solid form structures?

Thank you TubbyTubby for answering. I love talking with you (even though I know I am not supposed to say that).

So everything is beautiful? Of course there are natural things that appear beautiful to me. What about a Vulture, does that scavenger appear beautiful to you when it rips a carcass to pieces?

Is there anything that YOU can find beautiful without falling back into God and his word?

Can you see anything, just one tiny thing, that might just be beautiful without God?

Maybe Tubby, you're looking at miracles and not seeing them.
All these plants that depend on animal/insect interaction for pollination doing their thing for millions of years waiting, waiting for the Bees to get around to working out that if they gather food from flowers they will unwittingly transfer pollen from one flower to another in need....all these carnivorous animals eating all the lesser animals as fast as they can grow, as fast as they can change to avoid being on the breakfast menu. Of course another miracle would be for all the animals to appear all in one 24 hour day. But...............we assume do we not that the creation of the animals were only 'one offs'? in other words one ram one ewe, one lion one lioness etc.etc. But Genesis doesn't say that! Look at the converse for the moment...can you understand that there is sufficient energy in a pyroclastic blast to obliterate any and all of the massive herds of animals that can be found roaming the African plains in a matter of moments?
Why do you limit the reverse process then? Since we know only destruction and not creation, we should at minimum accept the possibility of such a level of creative energy. What does Science say? Isn't it something like for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction? Creation =>><<= destruction.
We believe that all life could be extinguished in the twinkling of an eye if the Earth were stuck by a cosmic bullet of sufficient size....why? because we have seen it before?? No! Because scientists say so. But science can not even begin to understand the opposite of destruction so they avoid it like the plague. There are no fancy equations for creation so it can't exist..they say. But here we are..what a miracle. Life is truly a miracle that we can not understand nor duplicate in a test tube.....But science doesn't like to talk about that....again no fancy equations to describe life.

So according to this definition, is anything beautiful to you?

I find pure mathematics intensely beautiful Olivia. It's not my speciality but it draws me towards it always.

My children are beautiful obviously, but probably not beautiful to others. My short existence on this planet is the most beautiful thing for me though and one that I intend to make the very most of.

Since I think that everything I believe is beautiful can only come from love, not destructive things, no I can't see anything beautiful as coming from anything that is not God. However, I believe everyone whether they believe in God or not has the capability of seeing beauty, even if they don't attribute it to God.

Why do you know you are not supposed to say that?
I do love talking to you and am thankful you are at least giving us a chance by talking to us. However, I said that as a joke since you were saying, "I think love is a bit of an over-used word really and means almost nothing."

As you can see I have the worst ability to tell a joke then anyone else on the forum.

Your children would be beautiful to me because I would see them as unique and beautiful individuals from God.
