You can't take the creation text literally and believe in science took. Whether you believe the earth is 6000 years old or millions does not effect salvation anyway. I personally do not take it literally.
I think we can believe both actually.
Science as in known and proven, demonstrable processes.
Science fantasy is a horse of a different colour. As an example, to state that 'nothing is eternal' is totally absurd and as such must be treated as fantasy. Why?
Because to make a statement like that requires an existence which is beyond eternal.
Or to put it in simple terms, one would need to see the beginning and end of 'all' things to make such a statement and remain credible.
This just one example of the type drivel being passed of as science these days and as such is definitely not to be believed
So yes, science is good stuff as long as it remains science.
Science fantasy is good for reading on a cold wet winter day when there is nothing better to do.
I recall when the first Russian went into orbit, Nikita Khrushchev (the then Premier of the Soviet Union) made the rather absurd comment that they had 'been out there and found no God therefore there is no God' (my wording, not a direct quote).
Putting a man in orbit requires real science......but to conclude that the entire universe and beyond has been explored......that is the kind of science fantasy that belongs on the back of a breakfast cereal box along with so much other of what is being passed off as science these days.
