Love Your Neighbor

You have heard that it was said, ’Love your neighbor and hate your enemies.’
But I say to you, love your enemies. Pray for those who hurt you.

Matthew 5:43-44

Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!
Don't expect love in return; just wait for it to grow in their heart but if it doesn't,
be content it grew in yours.

Hello Mr willie, thank you for sharing!

How is it possible that we can love others?
Is that something we have to get right at first or is there something else that comes first?

God loves us unconditionally. We should strive to do the same for others. None of us are perfect...only
God. But if we look for the good in others, and perhaps let them know how much you appreciate them,
then you both win; and in the process God is glorified.

Mark 12:28-31 (TLB)
28 One of the teachers of religion who was standing there listening to the discussion realized that Jesus had answered well. So he asked, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"
29 Jesus replied, "The one that says, ’Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is the one and only God.
30 And you must love him with all your heart and soul and mind and strength.’
31 "The second is: ’You must love others as much as yourself.’ No other commandments are greater than these."

Agree completely that none of us are perfect.

Also that is right, God does love all people unconditionally, however people must make the choice to work out everything out with God and get right with him and know themselves and know him first, and start loving Him.

Then we are able to share love towards others. The order you shared in the scripture of Mark is right.

Having a relationship with God first, Love God (First), then you will be able to love others. It is hard to love others if your heart is not right with God first.

Hello Bob;

Anonymous is so right! Giving someone all your love is never an assurance that they'll love you back!

Loving others, our enemies and those who hurt us doesn't mean they will love us back. What matters is we love them. God sees the hearts of others but also ours as well.

God bless you, brother, and your family.

Something else to consider:
1 John 4:3 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen? (KJV)
