Man Created in God's Image

Genesis 1:26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

The Bible does not describe man as part of the animal kingdom, it describes man as having dominion over it and as the only part of Gods creation that is made in Gods own image and likeness.

Darwinistic evolutionists, in trying to prove common ancestry between man and ape, like to point to what they think are striking similarites between man and ape. Yet the differences are far more striking. The accomplishments of this creature we call man are staggering! We've built cities, planted farms, written books, composed music, developed fantastic works of art, studied the universe, travelled in earth, space, and sea, studied atoms, cured diseases, and developed technologies. Weve even studied our own minds and bodies. Have the great apes or any other creatures on earth accomplished such things as these? God created us to be creative as He is creative. Weve demonstrated dominion over the earth in the fields of energy, natural resources, the domestication and taming of animals, etc. ( Psalm 8 )

Some will respond that there are certain things that we do not have dominion/control over and will ask why there is pain, suffering, evil, and death? The answer is simple. In effect, man in the Fall placed himself under the dominion of another who is his enemy (1 John 5:19). The primary reason that man was created was to have a loving relationship with his Creator, the secondary reason was to have dominion over the earth. When we rejected our Creator and chose evil, the result was not only seperation from our Loving Father, but, also the fact that we can no longer exercise dominion over ourselves (until set free by Grace). From hence the terrible realities of pain, suffering, sorrow, death, and decay in our world. Yet Jesus came, died, and rose to free man from this bondage ( Hebrews 2:5-9), and He will come again to free the creation as well. (Romans 8:18-21)

God gave man three gifts He gave no other created being: free will and the ability to create a being with a spirit (a piece of God) reproduction, and imagination (creativity). No other created being has all three, each representing the Trinity.

I'm a little hesitant about the "piece of God" part (respectfully speaking), but I wholeheartedly agree with the rest.

Blessings
