As man shall not live by every tree or fruit that was good to eat. But by that Word of God that proceeded from His mouth as to what was good to eat and what was evil to eat and by that Word and knowledge they lived.
For "of all the trees in the garden you may freely eat,......." this included the tree of life.
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil ye shall not eat,for in the day he eat thereof ye shall surely die"
Not only did God by this statement declare what His will was; that man should live and not die.But that man should live by God's knowledge of what was good and what was evil.
It was the rejection both of God's Word and God's Will and God's Way,that they died.
