Hebrews 4:12 NLT
For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires.
Lord, what are You desirous of me knowing in this wonderful verse?
The written words on the page are alive and energetic with Your Spirit! Electric! Powerful to change my life like nothing else.
I think of Your Word as the Sword of the Spirit, which is honed sharp—sharper than a razor, or a surgeon’s scalpel. As a surgeon deftly penetrates the body, cutting, all the while avoiding major blood vessels and delicate organs to reach its focus, I know Your word will penetrate even my physical body down to even the marrow, where my blood is manufactured…my life force. As Your word becomes a part of my physical self, I know that the force of Your word, Your Holy Spirit, can effect changes in it—healing me, keeping me!
By feeding on Your word, I am nourished—every cell of me---and my innermost thoughts and desires are brought forward to the forefront of my mind. I can cast out sinful or soulish thoughts and bring them into alignment with Your very word, Lord! I want to serve You with every fiber of my being. Do surgery on me, cutting away those things that are not pleasing to You.
Your word keeps me healthy spiritually and physically and enables me to live for You.
Thank You, Lord…wield Your holy scalpel.
