Eureka Springs Mayor and City Attorney are demanding that we (The Great Passion Play) REMOVE the Nativity Scene from the city's Basin Park. We are refusing to do so.
We ask for your prayers as we take a stand. Christmas is the National Holiday in recognition of the birth of Jesus Christ!
The Nativity Scene has been erected since 1950 - 72 years at Christmas time. The Passion Play puts it up for Beta Sigma Phi as a public service to the community... as a regular part of our Christmas decorations.
As Executive Director of The Great Passion Play, America's #1 attended outdoor drama... I REFUSE TO TAKE THIS DOWN !!

you say this does not affect you ! but it does we go through this every year . if you have never been to Eureka springs ark. to the great passion play. i suggest you take a trip .they have a Holy Land tour A bible museum all kinds of neat things to see.

we have been here what's so great about its run by volunteers some local. some as far as way as calif. for years they operated in the red.
in fact for a period of time it was closed. but later reopened . take time to pray it wouldn't hurt to voice your concern email letter or phone call.

if not careful this like many other things like this. will be swept under the rug. life goes on we have a voice lets use it.


here is my stand if its said this post does not belong . i will leave this forum. the reason why stuff like this goes on the Body of Christ sits by and allows it

I emailed the mayor with my opinion on the matter. I suggested that perhaps someone could use social media to organize a Christian boycott of Eureka Springs. It sounds like the good citizens of Eureka Springs need to petition for a recall election to fire this mayor.

i dont know if this is a advance thing to head off legal threats or if they have had threats from freedom from religion or aclu.. either way. time people speak upi emailed and i think i will call. this is such a neat place the Holy land tour has fantastic tabernacle they use have a messianic jew that gave a tour of it. all those who help volunteer .the passion play is all live cast in a out side theater pretty neat
 
i found out through the executive director of the passion play one man has threatened law suit. he said supreme court ruled that the nativity scenes can be put out along side other commercial Christmas decorations . we will see how far this Goes p.u.s.h pray until something happens

Found it. 😊 The 2 rulings happened in the 80's. Something nativity opponents aren't aware of perhaps.

If this is a conflict because the play is at a tax payers city park.......why not just move it to some other place close by and save all the conflict. I am sure that there must be a Believer there who has a lot or space or an area he would donate for such a cause.

no the great passion play has its own property. there was a group who has took care oif it over 70 years. they asked this group to do it this year. according to the exec dir. one person has screamed wolf law suit. naturally the city dont want to spend the funds to fight it.. see if someone would stand up go all the way .would be helpful .

My wife and I attended church this morning and we lifted this situation up to the Lord and will follow again by prayer on Wednesday evening's Christmas music event.

All they have to do is cite private property rights and show the 2 SCOTUS rulings from the 80's. No money spent in the fight. Just a little time.

this is located in northern part of ark .my understanding the local merchants want the display this is about 4-5 hours from me about 195 miles from where i am. very neat to visit.

this is easier said than done. if the citizens and the merchants stand up and tell the mayor Hands off or you have no job next election . he might change his mind

this happened in my town and also libraries years ago.
I have nativity set in my library year round and now in my office and nobody's going to take it. They might ask if they can 'borrow' it but it stays in my office year round.

Do you have proof this nativity is on private property?
The SCOTUS decisions are easy enough to find.

The Mayor should stand up out of duty, not coercion.

If we have unassailable proof the crowing against the scene is unlawful that helps fortify our position.

Also there's a second and even equal option that may serve to send a message to others of that same crowing intention.

Counter sue!
Violation of private property rights, violation of 1st amendment rights, violation of the SCOTUS decisions related to these type issues.

Time maybe for the sheep to show the wolves we have teeth too.
