nativity scene removal

What is the mayor's name? Full name? It sounds more direct I think to address his honor personally. Also, how can we obtain proof the nativity is on private land?

OK. Do you have proof this nativity is on private property? The SCOTUS decisions are easy enough to find. The Mayor should stand up out of duty, not coercion. If we have unassailable proof the crowing against the scene is unlawful that helps fortify our position. Also there's a second and even equal option that may serve to send a message to others of that same crowing intention. Counter sue! Violation of private property rights, violation of 1st amendment rights, violation of the SCOTUS decisions related to these type issues. Time maybe for the sheep to show the wolves we have teeth too.

Wow, Damascus;

I just noticed your new image and it looked like you speaking out as I read your post. It kinda scared me. lol!

But I know the angel is in the Army of God.

I read that earlier in the thread. I thought someone said the spot where the nativity is was privately owned?

You can put one up on your front lawn surely. if you have one. Other people put up lights and santas.

Inside the house we have 3 of those laser lights instead of stringed lights turned on in the evening during December. One of the laser lights beams on the nativity.

Outside we only display "Welcome" and "Jesus Is The Reason For The Season" signs in the front of the house and nobody has vandalized them. I only hope the signs will be a light to all who pass by.

I've got 'As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord' on a plaque outside my front door near the welcome sign.

Jewish people put a mezuzah on their doorposts. It's a little box with a scroll of scripture in it, blessing the doorposts...

I've seen a welcome mat that blesses everyone going in and out.

And of course, Jesus is the door. Didn't he say 'I am the door'? He didn't say I am the window or the roof.

There was a similar issue in my home town (Riverside, California).

This time it centered around the cross on the top of Mount Rubidoux, which is now a county park.

There were Anti-Christian efforts to have the cross removed.

This is cross is a true landmark and is the site of Easter Sunrise services (I believe it has the longest unbroken history of such celebration in the US). It also commemorates the period in California history when the Catholic Church sent missionaries and explorers all through California, so it has true historical and cultural significance.

I used to climb the mountain ( hill ) the night before Easter and spend the night with others in prayer and song, etc) with a multi-church service at sunrise.

Anyway, there was a controversy about the cross on public land. So... several churches in the area made bids to purchase the cross and surrounding area.

Didn't he say 'I am the door'
yes man you are %100 right John 10:9 I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

i like your observation . it seems some people are not happy and want to be hateful.. to me its just a nativity scene . there is no sign that says worship here. its a figurine used to reminds of the true meaning of Christmas.

yet those opposed take Christmas off and shop for presents

I used to live in Riverside and remember this when it happened. I live in central California now but there used to be a lighted cross off the 91 freeway near Corona. Is that still there? I think that one is already on private church land so I’m guessing (and hoping) it still glows brightly every night.

Hello, Skipper;

Do you remember a senior living community in Riverside called Sun City?

What about windows that have cross frames are they allowed?
there's not much said about that. i am sure something of that nature in a government building or school would hear about it. at the moment our government is focused on any thing is related to the confederate . any symbol statue

Hi Lanolin;

Our church building has window cross frames and stained glass. When I was a little boy and while sitting in church I didn't understand what the Pastor was preaching about. So I would look at the window colored stained glass and "imagine images" that connected the lines. This made the sermon go much faster. lol!

I went back to that Church about 3 years ago and the window cross frames and colored stained glass is still there.

I now live in rural Maryland. I haven't been back 'home' since my dad passed in 2004. So I can't tell you if it's there or not.

I set up my nativity safely in my bedroom, and added a Wonky Donkey a girl gave me as a gift as well.
I'm sorry it's not on display for the whole world to see, but I figured baby Jesus was trying to hide from King Herod who tried to kill him so, its probably safest he's in my home rather than out there in the world.
