NOT an advent though but..,

Christmas

So,

Joseph and Mary
Why?

Why did they not stay with relatives
Or childhood friends?
After all it was the place where he grew up…
Joseph’s home town?
Had they arrive too late to disturb them?

Had they embarrassed the family?
After all they were not wed?
Had family all moved
Not leaving a forwarding address?
Did they not have a put-you-up
Could they have not converted the front room?

And as for those who visited Jesus on that special night…

Where would the shepherds
Leave their sheep
If it wasn’t for being in a stable born?
With Mary, Joseph, new baby
In a front room
How would the wise men and their entourage fit in?
Where would they tie their camels up?
Would the bright star wake all the neighbours up?

And where if not in a stable would Joseph let their donkey rest so it wouldn’t wander off and get lost?

Or was it was because
hundred of years before
Jesus birth it was foretold…
The saviour of the world would start His life on earth in a stable
In His life mission to save the world?

And what about the wise men
Why?
When they had followed the star such a long way they
Finish up in Herod’s court?

We’re they blinded by the angels
When they came down to earth
To announce to the shepherds
The virgin birth?
Was the light so bright that shon around the angels
It caused the maji to loose
Sight of that star,
The star they followed half way round the known world,
And thought a king
Could only be born in palace?

Then when the angels returned to heaven and normal service restored
We’re they surprised
The star led them to a stable
As the profits foretold?

For now,
my head
Is ringing,
Tens of thousand angels singing,
‘Glory to God in the Highest
Peace, Good will to those on earth’

I have NO WORDS... I simply have NO WORDS. I love how you present a story when you ALREADY know the answer. HAHA. Delightful how you LEAD the reader into WHAT if's when all along the answer lies in the long ago foretold... YET it still has to be "walked out" in real time and with real choices along the way. Again.... an incredible dynamic to ALL the lives in the Christmas story. BRILLIANT!!

Thank you FATHER for blessing Alan with a VISION and the gift to transfer that vision to the pen... so that we might all be challenged to look PAST the simple Christmas story into an entire production of the events that unfolded. WHAT A JOY!!!
