Now This is Pretty Obscure

Now This is Pretty Obscure

Isaiah 65:20 -- 20There shall be no more thence an infant of days, nor an old man that hath not filled his days: for the child shall die an hundred years old; but the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed.

How obscure. What exactly does it mean when it says "the sinner being an hundred years old shall be accursed."

Why? Why is he/she accursed? Is it because of sin itself is why he/she is accursed?

I found it in the Amplified version, but it still doesn't make sense to me.

20There shall no more be in it an infant who lives but a few days, or an old man who dies prematurely; for the child shall die a hundred years old, and the sinner who dies when only a hundred years old shall be [thought only a child, cut off because he is] accursed.

Maybe what it's saying is that because the infant is at the time, a child of God because of his innocence, but the 100-year old man, who is a sinner, is still accursed and will die in his sin because he is no longer innocent. ?

Strange

You are right, that still does not make sense.

No, what Scripture there is speaking of is unsaved people. A True child of God shall still enter Heaven, even if all works burn, "as tried by fire".

So, someone who is accursed, has to be unsaved. Remember, God declares thru the Apostles, once "born again", we are now "babes in christ" and must grow to become meat eaters- (mature), in Christ.

But, since these people are "accursed", they do not belong to God, but are immature "natural"- (unsaved), people. For how else could a person be a child yet of old age and be forever accursed?

The shed Blood of Christ is what saves a person from eternal Death. So, God no longer sees a person who got saved and reborn as thier old sinful self, but sees them thru the cleansing Blood of Christ, a newly reborn Child of His, no longer held under the curse of eternal death by sin.

So, it has to refer to unsaved. Only an unsaved person could die at 100 years old, still considered as a child, in the spiritual sense, because they were unsaved and still dead in Christ.

God Bless!!

If you used the New Living Translation, it becomes more managable in fairly modern English -
