On a lighter note "It's Christmas" why am I so exhausted?

It's Christmas. Time for rest, praise and reflection. So why am I so exhausted? I've shopped, I've cooked, and quite frankly, yet again, I'm exhausted. Everyone else in my house gets a holiday, but I'm the one whose supposed to provide it!

Grumble, groan and grouch. I'm finding it very hard to be that Proverbs 31 woman:confused:.

Dear Annie;

I made a comment just recently in a fellowship conversation. "Look at all the TV news media about people with stress on their faces, running around shopping, cooking, taking out the Christmas decorations and putting up the Christmas tree. Now, look at all the TV commercials of people doing the same thing, spending with BIG SMILES on their faces."

Then I said, something is missing. How come Jesus isn't in the center of it all?

Time for rest, praise and reflection is all good. It's a wonderful time to spend with our Father. So when you're feeling exhausted doing all these things, take the time to acknowledge Jesus in the center because what you're doing is preparing for the celebration of our Lord's birth.

It's ok to say, "Lord, I'm exhausted but I truly want to do all this for your glory." Annie, the Lord knows and understands us better than we know ourselves, and He is still so full of GRACE for you and will see your heart. He will bless you for blessing Him and your family with all your efforts.

Press on and keep Jesus in the center of it all.

Luke 1:46, 46 And Mary said: “My soul glorifies the Lord" and in 1 Samuel 2:1a, 1 Then Hannah prayed and said: “My heart rejoices in the Lord"

I hope this helps a little, sister.

God bless you, your family and Merry Christmas.

Annie we all can get this way at times. I try my best not to over do any holiday celebration, but my family always has other plans.
When my girls were young I barely celebrated any occasion, and now they both have explosions of holiday madness every chance they get.
Let me stress the commercialism of holidays is not something I believe in but I do cooperate as my gift to my family. Why?

Your exhaustion is your gift to your family, as the hard work and effort required brings them much happiness.
As salvation brings us all much happiness, thanksgiving, and love to share, might we be charitably giving in return.

Happiness is a great holiday gift to be cherished and shared.

I have been so exhausted and I have purposely kept away from any shopping and cooking - that is yet to come. I have just finished school and I have pretty much been hardcore napping during the day. I will not drive anywhere too far because I don't want to fall asleep at the wheel.

However I was out caroling the other night so singing Joy to the World repeatedly might have contributed!

AMEN sister!

We have for 30 years or so had all of our family come for Christmas dinner and my wife does the cooking.

You know what that means...…......

Honey, Vacuum the carpets.
Honey, wipe of the counter tops,
Honey, throw out the trash.
Honey, wash the car.
Honey, take a bath.
Honey..................

"Honey, take a bath?" Well, a man has to draw the line somewhere.

Can't really say I am doing much work right now. Yes, I had to take the trash out this morning, as I thought everyone would be off today, but apparently, not the trash guys.

One daughter decided to vacuum the house. The other daughter is off wrapping stuff and hovering over the grandkids. The wife just got back from Publix and will soon start doing her thing. As for me, for some reason, I decided to spend my morning reading Luke. We have some friends coming over this afternoon; however, I am headed to church around 4:30 to do my volunteer security thing for the two services tonight (5 and 6:30). And, in the background of all this chaos, Silent Night is playing.

Not a bad way to spend Christmas Eve,

Ray

I sure would appreciate it if you would send your daughters to my house so that I could sit and read the book of Luke!

Trust me, you are better off without them.

You know, I've read Luke at least three times, so why did I not pay attention to the 70 (or 72) disciples in Luke 10 before? How did I miss than???

Im sitting here politely pretending to enjoy the holiday regurgitation of Christmas décor. There is a Christmas tree in every room including my bathroom. The reading of the book of Luke sounds much more up my alley, as Im on the internet instead of dealing with the mess.

Praise our Father in heaven for the gift of his Son Jesus Christ, and loving the world so much he gave us eternal life. Amen.

Hey Lanolin;

I just finished finals and am in San Diego at my parents for two weeks while celebrating Christmas. Aside from my devotional time, the highlight of my visit has been relaxation and sleeping.

I met two of my oldest buddies since grade school for lunch and shared so many old memories. For Christmas Eve I'm with my parents, sister and her daughter. Tonight my Dad and I are attending Christmas Eve service at 7pm.

I was going to fly to Major's house or get a ride in thenami's jeep for the Christmas celebration. Maybe another time. lol!

Its nice to get refreshed from being so busy before and when I fly back home next Monday evening to start the New Year with the church.

God bless you all this Christmas Eve, Merry Christmas!

aw well my christmas wasnt too exhausting went to church and then had two big meals lunch and dinner at my brothers with both sides family coming for each meal I did come home earlier to feed the cat and close the chicken coop. Mum wants to stay past midnight chatting to all my aunties and uncles But I need my rest and to chat with my sister.

And to say Merry Christmas to you all! I just have a HUGE family thats all.
we dont really do gifts but we fnd the neighbourhood chocolate exchange thing a bit funny. It works like this, one neighbour gives you chocolate and then you gives some chocolate in return. So its basically like pass the parcel except everyone pretends they dont know the wrapped up parcel is a box of chocolates when its so obvious thats what it is.

Yea I dont get it either. Since when did Christmas become easter?

I much prefer christmas crackers with the silly jokes.

It's almost 8AM and the grandkids are still asleep. What a silly generation. Once they do get up, the insanity will begin:

And to you as well my brother!

My door is always open!

oh wow Id like to come over to your place.
I had my own first bike when I was in my 20s after I had earned enough money to buy one. I still ride it!

But I always made sure I had my helmet on, and never road it on the busy road, just the footpath or back streets.

Before that I would ride my sisters since she was firstborn and always seemed to get the goodies before anyone else. I cant recall if my brothers ever had bikes. We did have tricycles. They were pretty safe, no tipping.

I dont think my grandparents could have ever have afforded christmas gifts for everyone considering how many grandchildren they had. But then we didnt expect any from them, since they didnt celebrate christmas.
