Then you should have been with my born again daughter who had 3-4 demons cast out of her. I myself, born again for years had an extremely powerful demon of fear cast out of me as a young woman.I do no think I can agree with you sister.

And I would have to agree with you.
Thank you Major. If we study scripture closely, believers are no longer under the power of the devil 2 Thess 2:7 NIV. If they are, they are nonbelievers who were never born again. If only we would take time to understand the Greek...
OK...you study words, while I am busy casting out demonic powers from my brothers and sisters in Christ.
That is why we trample on scorpions...to free our brothers and sisters from their demonic strongholds! People outside of Christ don't come to the Body of Christ to be freed....they don't care and are ignorant of these things.Yeah I study words, which happens to be the Word of God. The Word of God says we are no longer under the power of Satan, but under the power of God.
Luke 10:19 I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.
Yes...way too many Christians don't take their spiritual authority given to them seriously. No wonder so many of them are living mamby-pamby, weak and defeated lives--- not overcoming.Amen! Many are quite content in their current state and don't wish to learn more. Perpetual babes.
And Jesus said we'd be MORE than overcomers. I fully admit, I've not yet attained "overcomer" statusYes...way too many Christians don't take their spiritual authority given to them seriously. No wonder so many of them are living mamby-pamby, weak and defeated lives--- not overcoming.

People come to Christ with demonic strongholds in their minds Freedom from them isn't instantaneous. Demons like to hide out in the soul of a redeemed person often until spiritual growth begins to encroach on the territory they've been given permission to inhabit. Once detected, those who are equipped and know just what to do, kick them out, forthwith, along with renunciation of their newly enlightened and Holy Spirit- strengthened hosts, now rejecting them...BOOM!
It doesn't matter the extent of the affliction. The misery is the same. Two different words with two completely different meanings.............

Hi Major,1 Thess.2:18 says that the degree of control is different for a Christian than a non Christian. As Christians the enemy can control from with out not from within even though at times it can seem the same as possession. With the believer deliverance is a matter of the will. With a non believer they have no spiritual authority.
1 Jn.5:18............
"He who is born of God keeps himself and the wicked one does not touch him. This is an assurance and is clarified in the Greek that he cannot lay hold of or fasten to.
In Jn.17:15 Jesus prays that............
"they should not be taken out of the world but that the father should keep them from the evil one."
Again a provision of not being in a relationship with the enemy that we were formerly delivered from. We need faith to endure, because there is no promise of permanent deliverance from evil. We are always to pray for deliverance from evil (Mt. 6:13). as long as we are in this world there will be evil encroaching upon us. There is no prayer , method or incantation for relief, just faith to persevere.
If you understood the we are created in three parts---body, mind (soul) and spirit---you would find it an easy matter to understand that demons invade the soul, also. They are happy to lodge there, causing all sorts of attitudes, mental disorders, fears and phobias, some profound and some just aggravating enough to cause the child of God to come shy of spiritual growth, maturity and influence.A person Christian or not can not be the possession of two or more opposing entities...........simple.
the soul is Mind - Will and Emotions -If you understood the we are created in three parts---body, mind (soul) and spirit---you would find it an easy matter to understand that demons invade the soul, also. They are happy to lodge there, causing all sorts of attitudes, mental disorders, fears and phobias, some profound and some just aggravating enough to cause the child of God to come shy of spiritual growth, maturity and influence.
Okay, well if you know more about what I know than I do I wont argue with you.If you understood the we are created in three parts---body, mind (soul) and spirit---you would find it an easy matter to understand that demons invade the soul, also.
It has nothing to do with "only" . Demons go where they have been given rights to be.But I do have question for those who know so much about the subject of demon possession.
Where in God's word are we specifically told that a person either was or can be possessed only in the body, or only in the soul or only in the spirit?
It seems to me that if a person is only possessed in any one part, then it would be wrong and misleading to speak of that person being possessed by an evil spirit.
Surely it might be more correct to say that person was partly possessed by an evil spirit or demon?
Sister simmer down now,It has nothing to do with "only" . Demons go where they have been given rights to be.
They don't care what word we use for their activity. Possession, oppression...those are human terms that really, those who walk in the Spirit don't have any use for. Casting out of evil spirits and breaking down demonic strongholds should be our business...not parsing the nomenclature surrounding that. Satan just loves all this discussion, ignorance and no action.
it is so nice to see you sister.... you have a wonderful and blessed day. There is no need to be telling people to simmer down. Mind your manners.
There us no difference to the person vexed by the demonic problem. It is pure misery either way, and the same authority to rout them needs to be employed.
I happen to have a very big clue about this, thanks.
Quite frankly, I don't believe in "studying" devil or demons. The only thing we need to study is Word of God. Bible calls us to resist devil. And fix our eyes on Jesus Christ, Author, Finisher and Perfecter of our faith. Studying devil or demon only can have negative influence. Without realizing, we try to understand the ways of devil. Which should not be done! I think devil would only enjoy believers trying to study him. Through that he brings fear in hear of people. He thrives in fear. He who is in us is greater than he who is in this world. Through the fear, the devil tries to make himself look bigger! Why give credit which he absolutely does not deserve! Remember, battle belongs to the Lord! Not usI know basic Christian teaching on demons. That they are fallen angels who were cast out of heaven for refusing to love and serve God.
I know that they hate humanity and seek to harm us, sometimes by causing illness and demon possesion, but most often by just tempting us and causing us to doubt God. Turning us away from him seems to be their main MO.
I know demonic possession can happen, but doesn't happen all that often. Does anyone have any actual experience with it, or know how it can happen. I have heard it generally can't happen to a Christian, and even to non-Christians it generally only happens when they expose themselves to magic or the occult practices (voodoo, ouija board, tarot, wicca, divination etc.)
I have heard that by engaging in any of the above, you are calling on demonic assistance, and implictly consenting to having them actively in your lives. Exorcism piqued my curiosity, and I researched it, with the same intrigue as I have researched bigfoot, UFOS ,etc.
I almost wish I never did. Far from being interesting, the whole exorcism business sounds deeply horrible and depressing. Even where the afflicted person is "delivered' they and the person casting the demon out sometimes are deeply harmed and affected by the whole experinece.
However I know that mostly Satan is too clever to wish to possess manypeople and activley pointing himself out. If he did, many more people would be Christians and be terrified of him, instead of believing he is a myth.
Am I right in my understanding of demons/possesions?
