Ok so I think we're all spilling too many electrons here. I never claimed the ten commandments were taken from hammurabi. I was suggesting that later on during oral tradition some of the language and other laws may have been adapted. For example one OT law states that a woman's hand is to be cut off if she grabs another's gonads. The code of hammurabi states almost the same thing. (EExcept i believe it has to do with the woman's eyes being removed) Now I'm not saying the OT is bad, but it is not reliable like the NT. Let us also keep in mind that many israelites were not the best folks. The war with canaan happened because of their wickedness not for Israel's righteousness or lack thereof.
