Our Voice is a Sword or an Anvil

Good Day, Friends; There are times in our lives when we truly wish that we could take back something that we have said. Spontaneous statements without thinking or remarks made in anger are those statements which can be hurtful to those around us. Thoughtfulness in our conversations is something that we should all strive for. Proverbs 13:3 (NLT) tells us, "Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything." Consider the feelings of others and please use kindness in all that you do and especially when speaking with others. May God Bless.

Pastor Gary,
this is such an important reminder too!
It's true that things that are said, once spoken, can never be voided.

"Those who control their tongue will have a long life; a quick retort can ruin everything."

Thank you for the scripture

Blessings~

I was reminded by the title of this of an O.T. scripture;

Jeremiah 23:29 "Is not My word like fire?" declares the LORD, "and like a hammer which shatters a rock?

So if we are made in God's image as it says in Genesis, then our words have power too.

Sometimes its easy to forget just how powerful words can be. They can literally build up or tare down.
Amen to your reminder brother Gary

So the tongue is a little member and boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by a small fire.

but no human being can tame the tongue - a restless evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who are made in the likeness of God. From the same mouth come blessing and cursing. My brethren, this ought not to be so.

Words of St James.
