Genesis 1:1 (KJV) - 1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

********************************************************************************

Of all the Verses in the Bible, this one is my personal favorite. When 'God created the Heaven and the Earth,' it was the very start of His plan to eventually offer Salvation to His children. What a precious, gracious and kind thing to do.

`

Another favorite of mine is also in Genesis, from Chapter 4 Verse 25.

Genesis 4:25 (KJV) - 25 And Adam knew his wife again; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me another seed instead of Abel, whom Cain slew.

*************

This is an important verse because this is the start of the seed line through which Christ would eventually be born of.

`

In these days of widely differing 'values', a favorite of mine is in Luke Chapter 1:44 where Mary, only a few days pregnant with Baby Jesus, goes to her cousin, Elizabeth, to tell her the news.

After Mary speaks a greeting to her cousin, Elizabeth says, "44 For behold, when the voice of your greeting came into my ears, the baby leaped in my womb for joy!

This is a confirmation that life begins at conception and all life is precious.

`

Continuing the recent theme, as we know, Luke was a Medical Doctor, having been educated in Greece. (Colossians 4:14). Luke's writings were somewhat technical in nature because of his education.

In Luke 2:7 (KJV) we are told of Christ's birth. 7 "And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn."

What a marvelous event for all mankind, that the birth of one child could affect the lives of so many.

`

Even though some of our relatives and friends may not have much time for God's Word, we should offer the seeds of truth to them by being a good role model. Perhaps they will see our good intentions and act accordingly.

We can look to Paul and Timothy's letter in Philippians 3:17 (NLT), "Dear brothers and sisters, pattern your lives after mine, and learn from those who follow our example."

`

This time of the year especially, we are reminded that there are many persons and families who are struggling to make ends meet. If possible, please donate to your favorite Help Agency or Organization.

Hebrews 13:16 (NLT) 16 - "And don’t forget to do good and to share with those in need. These are the sacrifices that please God."

`

When we pray, putting others needs ahead of ours in the prayer means a lot to Our Father.

Philippians 4:6-7 (WEB) - 6 In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

`
Thank you Pastor Gary, I needed that scripture today.

Matthew 5:16 (WEB) - 16 Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.

Be a good role model and share God's Word with others, so they may be better in all that they do.

`

As the Season of Christmas gets closer and closer, we thank Our Father for His words in John 3:16 (WEB).

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life."

That gift to us began in a stable in Bethlehem over 2000 years ago. We thank and praise God for giving us Salvation through His Son.

`

Matthew 1:23 (KJV) is quite appropriate, since it is Christmas Day.

23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

Amen !

Noticed that PaducahLuke posted a verse for the California fire situation.

Here is another one -

Nahum 1:7 (ESV) - 7 The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble; he knows those who take refuge in him.

`

Just spotted a new post in this area today and thought I would add a new favorite verse as well along the same lines.

Philippians 1:9-11 (WEB) -
9 This I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense to the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.

`

`

Another favorite is Psalm 77:1 (WEB)
My cry goes to God!
Indeed, I cry to God for help,
and for him to listen to me.

(God hears us and helps and guides us, but on His schedule, not ours. His wisdom is infinite.)
