Ok for us KJV readers (hope you dont mind me posting KJV here) this verse proverbs 16:9 is familar to us as...

A man's heart deviseth his way: but the Lord directeth his steps.

I send these bible verse-quotes to many people on a daily basis.
Most, or all of them, are familiar with reading a more modern translation.
That's why the version used on any given day can be different.

It doesnt bother me, they just used -eth for -s.

Its quite a different wording to the OPs random modern version I noticed. But anyway Im just familar with the KJV and it makes sense to me so I just wanted to share it.
 
Book of proverbs was written by King Solomon to his son(s) which is probably why in KJV the wording is quite gender specific to a man. NIV translates in a general way, but no dad would give wisdom to his son and mean it was for humans. Especially when he gets to Proverbs 31 and talks about finding a virtuous woman. Notice he's not saying in KJV who can find a virtuous human?
