Poem#56 The Cup
Genesis 44
How many have come to the table of the Lord & not knowing
The significance of what we’re witnessing in the Presence of Him
Like when Jesus pulled up Thee chair & sat in it of the last Supper
We’re walking in a building doing our own thing & then we’re leaving
How much of the praise & worship did we do of routine & of the heart
Did we really drink in the Holy Spirit or did we leave holding the cup?
So much we’re missing of Jesus in the Old Testament like with Joseph
Unless we’re looking for Jesus in everything we’re reading we’re missing
When the Title of Jesus is in front holding the same Cup we’re accused
How many take sips of the same cup without thinking the significance
Not about the wine or grape juice but the blood of sacrifice it represents
From the Cup that should have been ours because of what we stole
Doesn’t matter how the forbidden fruit got placed into our heart it’s there
We chose to consume what we were told not to & took the bite of desire
We could have said no to Satan & taken such thoughts out as God said
Thankfully Jesus pulled out the chair at our table & sat at the last Supper
Taking the bread He broke saying this is my Body, then taking up the Cup
Which He poured of His Blood, His Righteousness in place of our Sins
Those that Believe will see more than just a cup, but who’s holding it
What does the Cup represent in the hand of Joseph & hand of Jesus?
More importantly what does it mean when Jesus places it in our Heart?
