poetry

no matter

no matter what you feel
no matter what you do
no matter what you see
no matter where you go
never will there be a mile
nor will there be a moment
where Christ is not there
with love that overcomes

but Christ

the world may laugh
the world may scorn
the world may turn away
while your heart is being torn

but Christ will stay
to wipe your tears,
heal your hurts,
your scrapes, your bruises
and show you love
that knows no end

a God come

soft hands caress calloused feet
with this you are cleansed

a gift - a service
a God - a Lord
a Commander - a King
come to wash the dirt away

weary hands carry a heavy cross
with this you are cleansed

a gift - a service
a God - a Lord
a Commander - a King
come to wash the dirt away

I saw a man

I saw a man the other day
pass him by and turn away
saw his need and left without
saw his want and left without

I saw a man the other day
brag of his merciful way
saw his lack and spoke of grace
saw his end and spoke of grace

Disagreeable Leech

slipping into the Body
a carnivorous leech
draining the life
from us

slight scratches on the skin
become a venomous
tool of division
divided by the holy

you disagree with me
I disagree with you
now you have become
the enemy

theological discussion
turns to debate
turns to hate
turns to war

but Christ

the world may laugh
the world may scorn
the world may turn away
while your heart is being torn

but Christ will stay
to wipe your tears,
heal your hurts,
your scrapes, your bruises
and show you love
that knows no end

Dear Slave ..... I love this one the most. Thanks for posting these. You have a very creative mind and a heart for Jesus.

I have always gotten positive responses from my poetry.. I have written over 1200 in my life.. but I got rid of a lot of them.. edited some of them.. have about 200 or so now... one of my "unfinished projects" to get them all edited and typed in.

then there's my depressive period:

crucifix
march 2, 1999

you empty my heart
with your words of hate
and bury the depths of me
with their weight
leave me sprawling and
convulsing in my cage
impaled upon the crucifix
of your rage

broken in spirit
October 30, 1999

scars of a battle raged
within the confines
of a weak mind.

and I'm torn in heartache,
broken in spirit.

wounds once again opened
to feel the salt
of my stupidity
and their relentless attack.

and I see the stare of death,
hesitant but willing...

needing that one defining moment
and that one last breath...

that's a pic of my fiance and I.

living water

vengeance boils
wrath deserved
in thoughts thrown
with intentions of
physical harm

how dare he hurt me

fire in my soul
cup of retribution
pouring my anger
scouring from my eyes

how dare he hurt me

silent prayers come
spitting from my heart
living water
has quenched my thirst
for revenge

excuses

we search for excuses
to sin
while we watch our future
grow dim
haunting pictures in a frame
broken
as the death angel
sneaks in

consequences not of wrong
actions
but of no actions at all

All praises be lifted
to the Lord God Almighty
for His mercy endures forever
Who did not spare
His only begotten Son
for His mercy endures forever
but gave Him up to
face the ultimate punishment
for His mercy endures forever
the very wrath of God at sin
poured upon an Unblemished Lamb
for His mercy endures forever
to offer you forgiveness
and access to His throne room
for His mercy endures forever

All glory and honor
power and thanksgiving
for His mercy endures forever
to the King of kings
the Lord of lords
for His mercy endures forever
Who opens His hand to the poor
His heart to the lonely
for His mercy endures forever
Who uplifts the humble
casts down the proud
for His mercy endures forever
Who declares righteous those who
believe and trust in Him
for His mercy endures forever

may our mind be consumed in thoughts
of only Your love and grace, Lord
for Your mercy endures forever
may our lives reflect the wonder
of Your powerful works
for Your mercy endures forever
purify us, make us holy and righteous
strengthen us to run the race
for Your mercy endures forever
