Re-discovering NT Pisteuo and the a,b,c,s of Faith. We don't need to discover any new truths, we need to rediscover the old truths.

It's been approximately 640 years since John Wycliffe realized he couldn't translate the most important word in the Greek texts into the English language.

What is that most important word? It's the Greek word Pisteuo.

Why couldn't Wycliffe translate Pisteuo into the English language? It's because the English language has no English word to translate Pisteuo. The English language has no corresponding verb to the noun Faith or Pistis in the Greek, like the Greek language does.

What is the Greek word Pisteuo? Pisteuo is the corresponding verb to the noun Pistis. The Greek word pistis is where we get our English word Faith. Where is the corresponding verb to the noun Faith in the English language? There is none! The words the English language should have had for Wycliffe and other translators are, Faithe, faither, and faithing. But those words are not in the English language and weren't available to Wycliffe or any other translators.

So, what did Wycliffe do? John Wycliffe had to make a choice, stop his translation into the English language, or choose to use the lesser words believe, believer, and believing 248 times! Gods word specifically warns about adding or subtracting from the primary texts. Even if done unintentionally . Wycliffe has laid the foundation for the wide path that Jesus warned us about. Every called out one will respond to this call of the Father by standing on these mistranslated words believe, believer, and believing, thinking if i only "believe" in what Jesus said, did , and promised , i will immediately recieve the grace deposit or the indwelling Holy Spirit. That is not the correct response to the call of the Father required to start, maintain, and complete the Salvation journey here on earth.

Here are some facts about the mistranslated words believe, believer, and believing.

These words are not in the Greek language. Our teachers, churches, bible colleges, and the internet say if i look up the word "believe" in the Greek, it means Pisteuo. Pisteuo was mistranslated into the English language, and then mistranslated back out into the Greek language. The Greek language does not acknowledge a state of being where one is only believing in something. Pisteuo is always moving towards something, and the reverse action Apisteuo is always moving away from something. No neutral or middle ground.

The mistranslated words believe, believer, and believing, used 248 times changes the object of Faith from a relationship with Jesus a real living person, to what he did ,says, and promises in His word. Gods word cannot be the object of Faith that results in receiving the grace deposit and Holy Spirit.

The A,B,C,s, of Faith! An action, based upon a belief, sustained by confidence. Pisteuo is a verb an action word that encompasses three parts. A specific act, based upon a specific belief, sustained by a specific kind of confidence. Believe, believer, and believing are only one part of the three. Believe, believer, and believing are only one part of the three parts of pisteuo, taken as the whole is error. Believe, believer, and believing are corresponding verbs to the noun "belief" not the noun "Faith". The definition of the words believe, believer, and believing are "An opinion held in good faith without the necessary reference to its proof. The Strong's Greek dictionary gives a disclaimer, "pisteuo means not just to believe".

Pisteuo defined in the Vines Greek dictionary is " A personal surrender to Him (our lives), and a life inspired by such surrender". More specifically, Pisteuo is a specific act ( a continually surrendered life) , Based upon a belief (that god will accept, maintain, and guide the surrendered life), sustained by confidense (making all the many daily decisions supporting the fact that our lives are not ours anymore but His now.) The A, B, Cs, of Faith!

And faithing towards God is not about perfection or obedience, its about a genuine daily offering. We know and He knows if we are truly fulfilling Pisteuo. Pisteuo is not a one time surrender, it's a daily journey, surrendering a little more every day , and this is the perfecting process. Saints are not perfect, saints are candidates for perfection.

Contrary to popular understanding, we don't accept Christ , He accepts us if our surrendered life is genuine.

God sees us from A to Z, A, being what God wants first (one who continually surrender their lives to Him and making daily decisions inspired by such surrender). We see God from Z to A, Z, being what we want first, His grace deposit, the Holy Spirit, and His promises.

Salvation is by Grace "through Faith", (a continually surrendered life). Some how over the last 645 years the understanding of how to respond to the Fathers call has unknowingly been perverted or is backwards. If there is going to be a true revival in the body of Christ before the trumpet sounds, it will be by the called out ones who choose to rediscover pisteuo.

Hi jay,

Very informative, thank you. Now I was reading this morning -

`You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe - and tremble!.` (James 2: 19)

And I`m sure the `demons` are not saved because they believe there is one God.

The word believe is so engrained in our conscience it's difficult to understand the real meaning of things like that.

I would say demons are in a different state of being than us, because the more than likely have really seen God at some point. So Faith being based on something unseen doesn't seem to apply the same way with them.

Hello Marilyn;

Would everyone agree that even that punk the devil and his demons know the Bible and use it to twist and deceive vulnerable believers? They hate Jesus and in the end, they LOSE!

Hello, faither, The title of this thread,
Re-discovering NT Pisteuo and the a,b,c,s of Faith. We don't need to discover any new truths, we need to rediscover the old truths.

I feel the Old Truths are already said and done in God's Word. We have a responsibility to sustain what He has engrained in us with gained further knowledge, wisdom and proper interpretation of the Scriptures. It's a constant study.

The New Truths represent today's Great Commission, sharing the Gospel fluency, our personal testimony and our roles representing Christ.

God bless
everyone.

Bob

I am sorry to bring this to your attention, but John Wycliffe translated the Latin Vulgate into Middle English not the Greek text.

I have never read anything to suggest that Wycliffe even knew Greek or Hebrew.

So I asked Google AI "Is there any evidence to suggest that John Wycliffe knew Greek or Hebrew?"
Answer: "No, there is no evidence that suggests that John Wycliffe knew Greek or Hebrew."

I asked the same question of ChatGBT.
Answer: There is no solid evidence that John Wycliffe (c. 1330–1384) knew Greek or Hebrew to any significant degree.

The Latin work for faith is "fides."

This is very interesting. Could you give an example of how this behavior plays out in one's life?

This is very interesting. Could you give an example of how this behavior plays out in one's life?
Sure.

It's simple but difficult at the same time. Faith or the application of Pisteuo is our response to the covenant Jesus consummated with His life, death, and resurrection.

In a nutshell it is a continually surrendered life. So in the beginning I'm making the offering of myself to Him, and then making all the many daily decisions that support the fact that i understand that my life is His now ,not mine. I start this when i'm in the shower each morning, again when i get dressed and throughout the day into the night. In the beginning you probably won't think about Him when you wake up during the night, but that will be normal when He takes residence in you.

These are what i consider to be the keys to the life of Faith"faithing" in Him. It starts, maintains, and completes the Salvation journey.

I say these prayers to start every day, and as i said i say them throughout every day.

1) God, i offer myself to thee, to have with me and to build with me as you will. Relieve me of the bondage of self that i may better do thy will. Take away my difficulties that victory over them may bear witness to those i would help of thy power thy love, and thy way of life, may i do thy will always. Amen.

2) Father, i am now willing that you should have all of me, the good and the bad. I pray that you now remove from me every single defect of character that stands in the way of my usefulness to you and my fellows. Grant me strength as i go out from here to do thy bidding. Amen.

Make these prayers and any others you may want to add be the priority and focus of each day. God will test you offering and when you go through the fears and tribulations with Pisteuo He will ......

Well i don't want to ruin the best part.

Remember, Faithing is 95% courage, 4% tenacity, and 1% everything else, and there can be no expectation of anything in return to be a genuine offering.

We can talk more in time, may God take you, amen.

I understand the "new truths" to be when Pisteuo was mistranslated into the English by Tindale.

Thanks for watching my back. I mean most of the church world thinks all we have to do is "believe" in what He did and said and there saved, correct?

It seems you have confused two names. William Tyndale was the first person to translate the Greek New Testament into English.
Hi origen, thanks for watching my back on the first translators. I'm partial to Tischendorf, i use His translation of the codex Sinaiticus as my primary source of translations.

With that thanks comes a little anguish,. 6 years ago i made up a few hundred pamphlets with the rediscovering Pisteuo information with wycliffes name as one of the first Greek translators, guess i got a little work to do.

Good morning, Origen;

I'm glad someone did (I'm being facetious.) In defense of the English language, to me it's a beautiful language. Not to take away the Hebrew and Greek, it was the English Bible, whether the formal or functional equivalence, along with the many words, English has more than one definition.

But through the years with
the Lord's guidance it has helped me grow in my study.

Now, someone like Major probably read the whole Bible in Latin. lol!

God bless everyone.

In a nutshell it is a continually surrendered life.
Thank you. 🙏

This is a deep topic. Paul calls himself a "doulos" of Christ, conceptually "servant", "bondservant" or "slave" (Romans 1:1), the key takeaway being he follows Christ's will, not his own.

Compare this to many of us. We beg Christ to bless our will. I'm not throwing stones. This applies to me as well. Have I sold all I own and given it to the poor? Have I taken up my cross to live like the birds of the field, neither saving nor storing? Do I enter a town, staying where I am invited and eating what I am given? No, no and no. So I have much still to learn.

And hence the saying, "learning to let go" letting go of our lives.

There's lots of different versions of what Paul is describing, i think your finding yours.

I'm grateful we've crossed paths.
