Ruth 4:11-12

Ruth 4:11-12
King James Version (KJV)
11 And all the people that were in the gate, and the elders, said, We are witnesses. The Lord make the woman that is come into thine house like Rachel and like Leah, which two did build the house of Israel: and do thou worthily in Ephratah, and be famous in Bethlehem:
12 And let thy house be like the house of Pharez, whom Tamar bare unto Judah, of the seed which the Lord shall give thee of this young woman.
An American English Bible

11 And the elders agreed, saying: 'We are witnesses. And may Jehovah make the woman that is entering your home like RachaEl and LeAh, who built the house of IsraEl. May they succeed in doing that in a powerful way in EphRatha, and in making a name in BethLehem. 12 May your house become like the house of Perez, whom Thamar bore to Judah, and may this woman give birth to the seed of your children.'

11 It was very important to have witness because the law required it in curt if a problem would occur and lying or bearing false witness would result in the same punishment that the convicted would get such as if it was a murder trial anyone caught lying would be put to death. Rachel and Leah were the wives of Jacob also known as Israel not all of Israel came from Rachel and Leah though there were handmaidens that bore Israel children. They are giving Boaz a blessing. This was important at the time a blessings were usually to come to this is why they were so important.

12 Tamar dressed as a whore to trick and get pregnant adding to the line of Israel. Tamar is mentioned in the New Testament and is an ancestor of Jesus as well as Boaz.
