Ruth 4:16-17

Ruth 4:16-17
King James Version (KJV)
16 And Naomi took the child, and laid it in her bosom, and became nurse unto it.
17 And the women her neighbours gave it a name, saying, There is a son born to Naomi; and they called his name Obed: he is the father of Jesse, the father of David.

An American English Bible
With Old Testament based on the Greek Septuagint

16 So, NaOmi took the boy and held him to her breasts, and she became his wet nurse. 17 Then she called the neighbors in and named him, saying: 'NaOmi has given birth to a son;' and she called him Obed (Servant). He was the father of JesSe and the grandfather of David.

These are my thoughts, please share yours.
16 Naomi saw this child as her own and took care of him and found him to be a blessing to her from the Lord. We may not have children but love our nephews or cousins as much as we would our own. Naomi had lost both her sons but would now care for him as her own. We are not born the children of God but thru Christ we can become part of His family and it will be as if we were always His own.
17 The women gave him a name. When we come to Jesus we will be as if we have a new name because we have a name in glory after receiving the name of Christ. Obed means worshiper and servant of God. Obed would have a son this would show the Lord had granted this line to continue. Jesse means the Lord exists so they continue to God credit for giving them children even after generations. David would be the second king and would be the start of the line of kings the ends with Christ whose reign will never end. David means beloved.
