Sabbath 1/23/16 Daytona SDB Church Pastor Wray sermon “Why Our Unity is So Important and Beautiful to God” John 17:20-21

Why is our unity so important and beautiful to God? The night before Jesus died, He prayed that his disciples would be unified. People are hundred times more beautiful when mixed together and in harmony with each other. Just like wall paint when mixed together, makes beautiful diversified colors. God made the world, the sunsets with beautiful mixtures of colors and elements that when unified work together to be beautiful. The sunlight, the glory of the Grand Canyon work together beautifully. All this points us to God and His great creative power.

We all need to have harmonious relationships with each other. Holidays, weddings and anniversaries are times of coming together. Coming together feels great. Unity of all people is great and we enjoy the sense of unity and togetherness with each other. The greatest memories of our lives all have something to do with times of closeness with another person. Relational unity is beautiful because it is an example of God’s unity in His Threeness- the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. All the relationship harmony we see on the earth in nature and in humanity, all point us to the harmony of God in three persons-Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

It is important for us to seek to re-unite with one another, forgive one another and get back together. Our unity points back to God. So I ask you today, do you have any strained relationships with someone? Fix it and repair the misunderstanding and offense. We should forgive, love and pursue the unity of the spirit with every brother and sister. Remember that when we love one another, it is God who wants us to be this way. And …..it points to the love of God. God is Love. There is a song that goes like this:

Bind us together, Lord bind us together with cords that cannot be broken.

Bind us together, Lord bind us together with cords that cannot be broken.

Bind us together with Love!

May that be the experience of each one of us today. I pray this in Jesus Name.

AMEN
