I is for joshua, the name the Messiah's mother called him by.
X is for Christ, the title that Joshua held.
O is the theta (minus the middle character like the pic) for God, theos.
Y is for the upsilon that is the S in Savior.
E is for the sigma the S in Son.
It's pronounced summ'n like IXTHYS or Ikthys.
In Greek its the word for Fish. Thus the <><

The martyrs our Church was founded on the backs of, died when caught using that symbol for Christ. It's certainly more holy than using the cross and it's symbol. There are people that worship the cross around their neck on their bumper more than the Christ.

And I cringe when folks make the big deal publically out of the X in Xmas and such. It makes the whole faith look, dense, and minute. Granted from your answer you probably wouldn't fall into that crowd. Making X a big dea has only existed for about 100 years, not quite even that yet. Nothing like crossing off a false issue before it gets to becoming doctrine.
AND, I owe you a soda or summ'n for this one.... I've used it more than once lately.

You have the dictionary of Kevin as your source. My first name doesn't come from Taoism. To deny the explanation I gave above, the picture on my profile, and such to say such a thing is a blatant malicious lie. Doesn't speak much for you from my perspective. ALTHOUGH in college I had a great debate at the student union with a Taoist.
What the church today claims is conservative and orthodox is 150 years old for most parts, and only 400 for the rest. (assuming you aren't Catholic.)
So by your own definitions, all of the reformation are heterodoxical.

They don't further the conversation. In fact the only thing they do is show you presume to have it all right thus making your own opinion the only one acceptable.

There have always been secret societies that are religious-based (example....the Jesuits are not so "secret", but there are covert extremist aspects to their operations).
We need not discuss how the Vatican bank launders money or how the Vatican clergy owns stock in PORNOGRAPHY PUBLISHING companies, or how the pope has to handle all the pedophile lawsuits (maybe with a lot of aspirin and constant headaches), but you see how this "IXOYE" stuff is kept "secret" (why???). Anyway, I don't know OR CARE about any belief or theology other than "Christ and Him crucified" ("the doctrine of Christ")....it was a wise decision that Paul made.
