Saturday 7/12/14 Pastor Ken Sermon The Lord’s Supper-communion

Saturday 7/12/14 Pastor Ken sermon The Lord’s Supper-Communion I Corinthians 11:23-26

In our text, Paul is speaking to the Corinthian church when he said that he received the Word from God and delivered it to them. He is saying the same to us in that when we receive the Word from God, we are to deliver it as we received it. Every believer is to receive and deliver. At the Lord’s Supper, Jesus said, “Do this in remembrance of me”. Remember who Jesus is. Remember He is our Savior and our Lord. When we take the Lord’s Supper, we are to focus on the Lord Jesus Christ.

Paul also said that after they had finished eating their dinner, Jesus took the wine and said to drink it as if it was His blood, the blood of the New Testament. There was a time span between the taking of the bread as His body and the taking of the wine as His blood. The blood is for the Covenant made between God and us.
Back in the cowboy days, people used to cut their wrists and press them with the other’s wrist to become blood brothers. The New Covenant between Jesus and us is the same thing. We become as brothers and sisters in Jesus.

Jesus said that as often as we do it, to remember Him. This often is whether we do Communion every Sabbath, or monthly or quarterly. The issue at hand is to remember who Jesus is! When we take the bread and when we take the juice, we do it in remembrance of Jesus and all that He has done for us!
Focus only on Jesus, the Son of God. Focus on what He is to us. He is our Lord and Savior! As we see the blood of the New Covenant, we see Life Eternal! Thank you Lord!

AMEN
