Saturday 8/9/14 Alfred Station Sdb Pastor Ken Sermon The Solution

Saturday 8/9/14 Alfred Station SDB Pastor Ken sermon The Solution Romans 1:16

In our text, the only thing that can free us from our sin is the death and resurrections of Jesus Christ. The Gospel is the Power of God for Salvation. The power is like dynamite. The Gospel is explosive and changes lives. Paul says he is not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God unto salvation.
Now there are survey statistics for Christians from all denominations. These statistics show that:

80% of Christians believe it is their duty to share the gospel
75% of Christians believe they have the knowledge/ability to share their faith
72% of Christians say they are uncomfortable sharing their faith
61% of Christians say they have never shared their faith with others
48% of Christians say they have never invited anyone to church.
Yet we all say we are not ashamed of the Gospel. When someone comes to you and asks how to know Jesus Christ as their savior, what do you say? There are Five ways and methods to share the Gospel.
.
  1. The Cliff Picture: Draw a picture with man on one side of the cliff and God on the other side. The cliff between Man and God needs to be crossed. When we try to do it on our own, we fall in the cliff. Being a good person, giving to the needy and attending church is not enough. The Cross of Jesus is the bridge between Man and God. Draw a cross in between the cliff sides.
  1. Colors: Use this especially with children. Get a box of crayons and sin is black so we use a black crayon. The next color is purple because Jesus came from Heaven and purple is the color of royalty. Red color is for the Jesus’s blood on the cross. White is for when our sins are forgiven. Green is for go, because we are going to Heaven.
  2. The Ladder Picture: Draw a picture of a ladder and God is at the top. In the middle of ladder, put someone that is righteous like Billy Graham. At the bottom of the ladder put someone who is evil, like Adolph Hitler. Put yourself on the ladder scale as well. There is still a major gap between God and us. We need Jesus to close the gap.
  3. The Do and Done Method: Tell them what they must Do. They must believe in Jesus Christ and what He has Done. What was Done is that Jesus died on the cross for our sins.
  1. Show them Scriptures:
Romans 3:10 = None righteous-no one. We have all sinned.
Romans 6:23 = Wages of sin is death
Romans 5:8 = Jesus died for us
Romans 6:23 = Eternal Life is a free gift from God. Offer them a dollar and say it is a free gift. All they have to do is take it.
Roman 10:13 = Romans 10:13 Any person that calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved! If we call, we are saved and no if’s or but’s about it!
In Revelations 3:20, Jesus says that if we open the door to Him, He will come in to sup, eat dinner with us and be with us. Jesus does not knock our door down like a SWAT team would. We have to open the door to let Him in and we will be saved! The Gospel is the Power of God! We need to share this with all.
AMEN
