I don't think that God sees it as a sin. I don't believe that smoking will send your soul to hell (contrary to ole style pentecostal / holiness thoughts). However, I do know the scientific/medical analysis on why we should not smoke and I choose to not smoke because of this (and seeing a grandfather with emphysema that spent his last days with the oxygen and hole in his throat to breathe.)

However, I do love the smell of a freshly lit cigar or a pipe out in the open air. Swisher Sweet Cherry, Dunhill, or in pipe tobacco, Captain Black or Sir Walter Raleigh

If smoking sent people to hell like the ole time holiness preachers stated, then many of the pilgrims who came over here for 'religious freedom' to make America the Christian nation (you see them portrayed smoking pipes), and some great men of God like Charles Haddon Spurgeon (known as a cigar smoker) would have to be in hell right now.
My 2 cents.

1) Your body is a temple of the holy spirit.

1 Corinthians 6:19 says:

“. . . Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and that you are not your own?â€

2) Smoking is a bondage.
God doesn't like bondage.

Exodus 6:6 says:

"Therefore say to the children of Israel: ‘I am the LORD; I will bring you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians, I will rescue you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with great judgments."
Well, If you are addicted to chocolate :p

Food is a different matter, I think theres a verse in the bible that says out lusting after food, which lust is wrong.
perfume, oils for the skin, lipstick.many foreign bodies enter our bodies ,i have no idea which is the worst.
You could say that about alot of things but a habit that destroys your body is not pleasing God- I watched my dad die of a long struggle with emphsyma- his body literally consumed it's own muscle mass in it's struggle to fuel the strain of breathing - it was horrible and unecessary and could have been avoided by not smoking- then I watched the same horror as my mother in law died the same way- what a tragedy- it is as nationaly established statistic that the average smoker will live 10 years less than a non smoker- yeah my dad laughed about it too- until it was to late and then of course he wished he had never smoked- my advise- don't smoke- God's take- killing yourself with addictive drugs cannot please him- and yes the tobacco companies still inject extra additives to keep you smoking- thats the sad truth about smoking- brother Larry
i always wondered about this, why cant they make a friendly cigarette?like a non alcoholic beer type thing?i would defenately swich to them .
Theres a company that already make a Non-alcoholic Beer.
I think that if cigarettes didnt have nicotine in them then no one would smoke anyway.

The American Spirit Cigarette Company makes a completely tobacco-free cigarette made with natural herbs. No chemicals are used in the process. All the herbs are completely natural (and legal) and pose NO health risks when smoked. They contain no tar or nicotine. I've been smoking them for several years now. It takes some time to get used to the difference in flavor, but I can smoke them knowing that I'm not hurting myself or anyone else...although my state's smoking laws make it virtually impossible to smoke anywhere but my car. Ask your local smoke shop if they carry American Spirit Herbals.
This is off topic I know but I had to say it- Good to see you here Kent!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
