Something ate our broccoli

Not sure what it was but it ignored the spinach, carrots, onions, and collards but devoured the broccoli. Some sort of rodent.

We grow in a raised bed to avoid gophers. Any tips on keeping the rest of the plants safe? I was thinking of building a little chicken wire dome to put over it but I’m concerned that may stunt plant growth and may not be strong enough while allowing for easy harvest. Any other tips and tricks?

Hello Skipper;

Rats and mice.
They have strong teeth for gnawing and may have preferred broccoli. If you have a cat, these rodents are definitely afraid of them. Perhaps you can put a cat bed outside next to your plants and veggies.

God bless you, brother, and your family.
