Surrendered

At some point in my spiritual walk with Christ I must make a decision if I will live a life surrendered to Him or surrendered to myself and just bringing Him along. At the first glimpse of trouble though I will surely fall to my knees and beg God to make the suffering go away. Perhaps I promise Him that if He will just get me out of this one "I'll do anything!" But as sure as His mercy is as sure as my forgetfulness of a promise.

I must live surrendered to Him, not my work, not my goals, not my family, not my finances. Fully and completely surrendered to Him and His plan for my life.

Andrew Murray in his book Absolute Surrender (2020) wrote, "I have a pen in my pocket, and that pen is absolutely surrendered to the one work of writing, and that pen must be absolutely surrendered to my hand if I am to write properly with it. If another holds it partly, I cannot write properly." The same applies to our faith. If we hold onto our lives we are bound to see some struggles.
