One of my favorite church histories is John W. Kennedy's "Torch of the Testimony" because he approaches church history from the point of view of the great many groups over the centureies that sought to live simply according to scripture under the Headship of Christ, with scripture alone as guide. It is a fascinating and edifying study. Along with all the messiness that is the church, the beauty and faithfulness of Christ and the brethren that have gone before usis amazing!
