The Believer's Inheritance

The Believer's Inheritance

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. (1 Peter 1:3-5)

Q. Where is the inheritance?
A. Inheritance kept in heaven. (1 Peter 1:4)

Q. What kind of an inheritance is it?
A. Inheritance never perishes, spoils or fades. (1 Peter 1:4)

Q. For whom is the inheritance?
A. For those who are called and sanctified.

For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance, now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. (Hebrews 9:15)
Now I commit you to God and to the word of his grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.(Acts 20:32)

Q. How do you receive the inheritance?
A. By faith and obedience
By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance, obeyed and went, even though he did not know where he was going. (Hebrews 11:8)

Q. What's the guarantee for the inheritance?
A. The Holy Spirit.
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession to the praise of his glory. (Ephesians 1:13-14)

Q. What's the inheritance?
A. Eternal Home: I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. (Revelation 21:2)
Eternal Life, Eternal Joy, Eternal Peace, Eternal Strength: He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. (Revelation 21:4)
Eternal fellowship with God: No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. (Revelation 22: 3, 4)
