Journal The Cabin

Love back to you, my sister in Christ. Im sure you know how to stay safe, and warm even when the power goes out.
I take terra cotta flowerpots and their drain dishes to make heaters with candles. They do get hot so put them someplace safe.
If you put a candle on the drain dish, light it, and then invert the pot so the drain hole is on top, you made a heater.
They kick out quite a bit of heat when its cold and the power is out. I put one on my stove, and a few where Ive made "camp".
Remember a little flame can still cause a fire so be attentive. I stack steppingstones out of my yard to put them on.
Some heat is better than no heat when the power goes. Keeping you in my prayers.

HOW SWEET you are to me my beautiful sister. THANK you for this heart-felt post.

Ok... so this is I guess STEP 1 of this bad weather system we are about to get. I included the entire warning... which is quite boring but none the less... IF this ICE storm does form on the trees and hydro polls... this is when trouble can happen. Tree branches crack and topple over and damage people's properties.... power lines are at risk of being damaged... and it's GENERALLY just NOT a fun weather system. This is the first Ice storm warning I have experienced in over ten years.... Just to give you an indication of how rare it is... but sometimes ... WINTER just gets an ATTITUDE and wants to fight with SPRING. HAHAHAHA... to which I say.... BYE BYE... FRENCH FRY. :D

Anyways..... I am warm... I am safe... and I AM BLESSED.

Issued by: Environment and Climate Change Canada

Significant snowfall and ice pellets with a threat of freezing rain expected today into tonight.

What:
Total snowfall and ice pellet amounts of 10 to 20 cm.
Reduced visibility in heavy snow.
Risk of freezing rain.
Difficult travel conditions and possible road closures.

When:
Beginning this morning or this afternoon, and ending Saturday morning.

Additional information:
Snow is expected to begin affecting northeastern Ontario during the day before intensifying late in the day or this evening. The snow will likely become mixed with or change to ice pellets for portions of the region which would reduce snowfall amounts. There is also a threat of freezing rain. Snow will taper off by Saturday morning.

After a brief break during the day Saturday, another winter storm will likely affect the region on Sunday with a threat of significant snowfall, freezing rain and ice pellets. More details on precipitation amounts will come in future updates.

###

Rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.

Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to [email protected] or post reports on X using #ONStorm.
Recommended Action

Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for tail lights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Mr. Moose....
You will notice a new portrait behind your chair...effective immediately. Frannie picked it out. 🐌

All part of the SPRING cleaning that is going on. The portrait of Uncle Hank is resting in the closet. Frannie made sure to give Uncle Hank a proper send off... by packing him a lunch... (
which was later removed SECRETLY ). We don't need meeses coming in to the CABIN.

I'm off to my auntie's house for a couple of nights sleep over.... She is not feeling the best... so I will stay with her in light of this storm that is supposed to magically and very suddenly appear.

So.... I will definitely NOT have internet access and so my computer is staying home... I will catch you all when I get back.

Well...... HAPPY LIBERATION DAY for all my American friends.... including Mr. Moose....

I am looking forward to seeing you all DANCE around. Here in CANADA.... we will be celebrating by deep frying BEAVER TAILS. with icing sugar. :D

Update on the PLANT report.... Some serious GROWING is happening as I type....by the end of the week-end... I expect to have a FOREST on my window sill.

So.... Happy Wednesday to everyone... STAY CALM... STAY COOL.... and don't DROOL.

Oh my goodness... THIS is what happens when someone has NOTHING to say... yet chooses to say it anyways. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

GOOD morning my beautiful forum family.... Just a quick note... I am just about to go out the door to the grocery store. ( that rhymes ).

There is something wrong with my right ear... I am hoping it is just ear wax...but I am feeling like it might be an infection. So.... quiet day for me.

Just wanted to pop in to say..... HAPPY SUNDAY. Going to spend the day thinking about how BLESSED I AM.

Our cat passed away a few years ago. We did not have the heart to get another cat. it was too hard when she left. so we feed the neighbours cat.
Good afternoon to you Dear Cranberry.... I have nick-named you the Cabin Cranberry. :D
It is so nice to have your occasional visits.

My daughter fosters dogs... and she has adopted several dogs over the years... ALL SENIORS... and so she knows right from the get go... that she is getting a dog that is going to die soon. Plus... all these dogs have been abused or abandoned... and so their story is even sadder because of that. I don't KNOW how she does it. IT really SUCKS to lose a BELOVED pet... and the pain can be as BAD as losing a human.

So.... I can understand when you say... you did not have the heart to get another cat.

I found your comment funny about only being able to handle you guys for about 20 minutes a day. I know some humans like that. HAHA.

You just keep coming back to the cabin Mr. Cranberry.

This makes me happy.... This is my favourite BREED of dog. Like SERIOUSLY.... I would an entire village of these guys. HAHAHAHA.
We had a dachshund when I was a teenager. He, Sam, was mixed with some terrier I was told. So he had longer legs and a less elongated body. I don't have any pics of him, but here is the closest image I could find that looks like Sam.....aka Sam-U-el....aka Sambo.

He also had white fur on his chest that made a "tie" shape. He was a good dog. I made the mistake of playing with him with a tennis ball and I got too close to his face with my face growling like I was going to take the ball from him......and he bit me beside my mouth and nose. Have a little scar there still. lol

CranBerry is the name of the neighbourhood I grew up in and still live here. It is next to the ocean. Salt spray kills almost everything, but Cranberrys love it. People would come from miles to pick cranberry here. There is a huge bog here.

I visit occasionally because my faith is not the strongest, but I find this is a nice, safe place to come.

Where I live.

CranBerry Artworks is the name for my paintings. My mother has CranBerry crafts when she was younger.

My real name is Nelson Burgoyne.

I love the name Nelson.

I am adding the link for a place that is approximately 20 miles away from where I live. I remember being so SHOCKED when I discovered we had a cranberry field. I don't know what I was thinking.... Perhaps of the rice fields. Anyways... I have not been... but this year... I do want to buy some FRESH cranberries... and make my own sauce with them.
