Journal The Cabin

Are you taking an umbrella?
HA.... It's funny you should mention an umbrella.... Someone gave me one... just the other day. I am not an umbrella person... but this one was purchased because it had dachshunds on it... and well those are my favourite dog breed. I hung it up in my hallway on the coat rack and well.....
I'm so used to NOT having an umbrella that I completely forgot I had it.

I walked to the market and took the bus home... as the skies are looking very dark.

It's a VERY overcast... cloudy day... but the MARKET is on... and it's basically the SAME walk I take most mornings... with the exception of taking the undertunnel to the right... instead of keeping straight to the dock.

One of the vendors ( she is a potter )... is the sister of my landlords... so I am going to enjoy a potential SOAK in the rain kinda day!!!!
If you get soaked, you can count it as a day swimming. I will sign off on it for you

I will sign off on it for you

Hello BibleLover;

Have you ever heard of an unfortunate incident in these towns, of mama bear feeling her cubs are threatened?
Actually, no. People know to respect bears and give them plenty of room. After all, in the Smokies it is we humans that are encroaching on the bears' home.

One summer my wife and I rented a cabin near Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, and one day I was doing some work by the side of the cabin. When I finished, I headed back to the front, and as I rounded the corner of the cabin, I came face-to-face with a black bear not more than 5 or 6 feet away that was headed toward the open front door of the cabin. My wife was taking a nap and left open the door for the breeze.

I quickly sized up the bear and determined he weighed less than 200 pounds and was an adolescent about a year old. When I popped around the corner, I startled him, and I could see he was afraid, so I hollered, "Boo!", and he took off across the road like a scalded dog and jumped on a stump over there. He looked at me with an insulted look kind of like a dog that's been scolded. We stared at each other for about 2 minutes before he jumped off the stump and bounded into the woods.

I had a neighbor there from New York who witnessed it from his window and couldn't believe he saw what he did. When he mentioned it, I told him it was just a hillbilly thing.😀

There are some awesome cave systems outside Pigeon Forge. Some are privately owned, while some are owned by the University of Tennessee.
When I first moved here to NC, my late fiancé and I did quite a bit of exploring outside the touristy areas.
I really enjoy Gatlinburg, but not the freezing winters. I like being a person, not a popsicle.
Alas, this is why I love my eastern coastal NC.
