The case of DOREEN VIRTUE

Doreen Virtue was until recently a great new age celebrity, her angel cards sold millions.

Doreen has abandoned her new age beliefs and she is now a great servant of Jesus Christ. Glory be to God!

Unsurprisingly, she has been criticised for accepting Jesus. 'Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely for My sake.' (Matthew 5:11)

Any thoughts on this case?

Doreen is still a baby Christian but I love her preaching, she is so enthusiastic and charismatic.

WHEN was this?
I thought she already was, but then kept going with the new age thing as a sideline. The new age thing was her way of making a buck. I recall she then said she was a christian and her new age friends would snub her, but when she was new age her christian church friends would snub her. So she continued to be double-minded and confusing everyone.

I don't know what she believes now but if she's still TEACHING something then not sure what she can teach if she's still a baby christian. Baby christians really shouldn't be teaching as such if they hadn't fully repented. If she has, great, as long as she isn't accepting royalties for her new age books or any ongoing contracts with those new age publishers. (or publishing under another name to reach the 'christian market')

Some people don't realise, when they repent, God might actually call them to QUIT their job.

Yes, that's the big question. She says she's repented, her critics say she's still making money with her new age books.

Because she's still a baby Christian, Doreen's views on Christian doctrine are probably a bit shallow. Her warnings against new age practices are, however, excellent:

Well ok
She's never been much of an influence on christians though. But I suppose those caught up in new age practices better take note.

I think it tends to be mothers who lost their children - maybe they died young, and they try to contact them, that's why they use mediums and psychics. People with little faith to begin with are succesptible I suppose.
Saul contacted the Witch of Endor to try and talk to (dead) Samuel. I don't know why he did that when he could have just asked God.

I do not know this person or what she teaches. I do however know God and what He teaches which is in Deut. 18:9-14................
"When thou art come into the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, thou shalt not learn to do after the abominations of those nations. 10There shall not be found among you any one that maketh his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that useth divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. 11Or a charmer, or a consulter with familiar spirits, or a wizard, or a necromancer. 12For all that do these things are an abomination unto the LORD: and because of these abominations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee. 13Thou shalt be perfect with the LORD thy God. 14For these nations, which thou shalt possess, hearkened unto observers of times, and unto diviners: but as for thee, the LORD thy God hath not suffered thee so to do".

Those practices were evil then just as they are now.

Now I must ask you, since we as a nation are deep into those practices today, do you believe that as a nation there is a price to pay for such sin?

Gen. 9:11 says- “And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.” As far as the consequence of sin on the earth today, we can see for ourselves the reckless destruction caused by man himself. Does God pour his anger and wrath upon us today? Who am I to say, but I believe he does in many other ways than complete earthly flooding.

Old testament applies to those under the old covenant (nation of Israel). As far as I know America is NOT Israel...it's miles away. So judgement isn't actually coming to America as a nation.
God still sees those practices as wrong but he judges gentiles on their individual faith not their faith as a nation...although its true that wicked practices condoned in nations that are widespread do affect people, but as far as I know americans are free to worship how they please, it's built into their constitution, freedom of religion, God, or no God. Thats why so many cults and sects and weird religions come from there. Christian Science, Jehovahs witnesses, Mormons, scientology, seventh day adventists, prosperity gospel, santeria, new age 'energy' practices those are all american based cults.

If Doreen had been living in Israel she would not have been allowed to teach or practice. But then christians also have a hard time in Israel today as well, so...

The law in leviticus/deuteronomy would have had her stoned or put to death.
