The Diety and Humanity of Christ .

Acts 2:22-24

22"Men of Israel, listen to this: Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him, as you yourselves know. 23This man was handed over to you by God's set purpose and foreknowledge; and you, with the help of wicked men put him to death by nailing him to the cross. 24But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.

I personally am thankful to our Heavenly Father for sending His Son , Jesus to walk as a man on this earth . If Jesus had not comne , we would not have the " Comforter" the Holy Spirit.

I can honestly say that the Holy Spirit is where I draw my strength and power so that I can accomplish His agenda for my life.

We can do nothing in ourselves , but it is to be Christ who does His work in us. The question is do we put our whole trust and obedience in God ? I would have to answer " Yes " and most important is where we place our dependance . If we place our dependance wholly on God we will expereince His working in our lives.

I also think because Jesus is never less than God as far as His doing was concerned . He behaved like a real man . He behaved in complete dependence on God . Jesus claimed to not be responsible for His words or His works .

If you think about that he said in John 5:20.... " Truly truly I say to you , and in the Son can do nothing of his own accord " and in John 5:30 ...." I can do nothing on my own " and in John 8:28.... ' I do nothing on my own authority " .

So how do we explain His miracles and words ? He tells us in John 14: 10 ..... but the Father who dwells in me does his works"

He behaved in complete dependence on God

That's right Dusty :)

Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death

Heb 5:7

Christ prayed with tears to God who is the only one able to save Him from death. He was very dependent on the Father.

our main goal here is to abide in Christ so we can be in Christ as he is in the father....then our lives will reflect that we are fully dependant on the Lord.

Yes as John said, only the Father could save the Christ from death. Let's not loose sight of the fact that only the Christ can save us from death, and that requires that He be both Diety and human.
8Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, "Rulers of the people and elders of Israel: 9If we this day are judged for a good deed done to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well, 10let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. 11This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’12Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved." Acts 4:8-12 Nkjv

THanks Calvin ..... Good point. We cannot loose sight of what Jesus has done for us . We must always be in humble praise and adoration of His work in and through us . If it we not for Him where would we be today ?

Where would we be tomorrow....that is on the day of judgment?

Exactly ..... and I often think .... Oh I would not want to have to go through what the Isaelites had to do with all their rules and sacrifices . Can you imagine how time consuming . We would never get anything else done.

Yes .... THank you Jesus for the ultimate sacrifice that You came down as a man , took on our sins , bled and died for me, rose again and are sitting on the right hand of Father God . Praise Your Wonderful Name .

The joy of the Lord is our strength, the joy of knowing Him personally.

Amen .

John 1:18...... No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

And this verse telling us that no one has seen the Father but thousands have seen Jesus .

James 1:13 ..... When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone.

God says He cannot be tempted . For 40 days and nights Jesus was tempted in the wilderness . Jesus was tempted by satan and He lived every day on earth subjected to the same tempatations that we experience.

THe Bible says that God is omnisceint - that He knows everything . Jesus when He walked on earth knew everything as well as there were so many examples of His knowledge... such as the woman at the well .... that Peter would deny him , that Judas would betray Him and there are many more examples.

Jesus had to learn obedience through suffering and He had to " increase in wisdom , stature and in favour with God and man "

God alone is immortal , the scripture says God will never die , yet Jesus died . All this is declared impossible for God yet it was true of Jesus .

Hmmmm - so I ask how do we understand these apparent discrepancies ? These things are very hard to explain or understand .

In summary I would say that Jesus was never less than God as far as His being is concerned.

Jesus lived as though He was never more than man. He behaved like a real man as far as what He did was concerned.
He patterned His life as we men and women were designed to behave .

ONce again I come back to Jesus behaviour as a man , in complete dependence on God .

We also have a mandate to pattern our life after Christ in complete dependence on the Holy Spirit , Jesus and God . THe Holy Spirit is our Comforter , our wisdom , Jesus Christ our Intercessor and revere our Heavenly Father , God .

Just to add to the understanding of who Jesus was as a man and as God .

We need to understand that Jesus death was different than any one else's death . His death was a victorious death . It was a voluntary death , an obedient death planned by Father God from the beginning of time .

Jesus once again by saying " Father into thy hands " entrusted Himself to the Father once more .

Jesus died according to the Divine purpose of God .

If we go back to the beginning of time ( Genesis ) we can see " The Word" meaning Jesus - showing that even though Jesus is God's Son born a a human being he is also truly God because He has existed with God from the beginning of time .

John 1

The Word Became Flesh

1In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2He was with God in the beginning.
3Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

Jesus lived as a human being in order to show God's glory .

One of the strongest afirmations of Jeus divinity is the Bible is John 1:18........No one has ever seen God, but God the One and Only, who is at the Father's side, has made him known.

" God is the One and Only " .

The One and Only - is the Only Begotten Son ---- The Messiah - the Christ .

The Greek is " The Christ" and the Hebrew is " The Messiah "
Both mean " The Annointed One " also in verse 25 .

We see in 1 John 1: 7 .....Jesus , God's Son was truly human and she His Blood to take away sins.

7He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all men might believe

Gal 4:4
But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under law.

Luke 1: 32 -33
He shall be great, and he shall be called SoN of the Highest, and the Lord God shall give him the throne of his father David:
And he shall reign over the house of Jacob forevever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

Mat. 3:17 And lo, a voice from heaven saying. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

Mark 16:19 So then after the lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

John 1 :1 In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God

THe diety of Jesus Christ, or His God nature, is well established in the NT. Some of the facts are :

1--He is called God by the Apostle John ( Verse one.)
2--- He is called God by the Apostle Thomas--- John 20;26
3--He is called God by God the Father--- Heb. 1: 8
4--He claimed to be God in that He was with the Fater before creation John 17:5
5--- He claimed to be God in that He was before Abraham---John 8:51--59
6--He received worship, and only God is to be woeshipped -- Matt. 14:33 Angels refused worhip--Rev.22:,8,9 Man refused worship--- Act10:25,26
7--He forgives sin --- Mark 2:5---11
8 He is creator and maker of all things--- Col . 1:16
9--He is sustainer of all things-- Heb.1:3 -- Only God can control the universe.
10--- He claimoed to have " all power in heaven and in earth" ---Matt.28:18 Only God has all power.
11--He walked upon the blue waters of Galilee. The winds and the waves obeyed His command. He healed the sick and raised the dead. He gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf. He cast out demons and made the lame to walk. He turned water into wine, and fed five thousand with the lunch of a lad.

I always quote John 1:1.
"....the Word was God...."
It can't get any plainer than that.
