The bible tends to speak of intimate sexual relations as “ he knew her”

Funny words to say about sexual intimacy.
Isnt knowing a mental exercise?

Obviously A couple should truly know each other inside and out mentally and emotionally before becoming intimate and in our culture this is becoming obsolete🙁

It started out with the excuse akin to making sure the two are "compatible" in that department, now it's just outright hedonism, with no regard whatsoever to commitment and purity.

Genesis 4:1:
“And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain.”

So, in the context of marriage, this kind of ‘knowing’ means ‘making babies.’

This reflects the intimate nature of all “knowing” in the bible. It doesn’t have to be sexual. Lots of “knowing” in the bible isn’t sexual. But it is relational. The bible’s idea of knowing is not just a cerebral excercise.
