Matthew 11:25-30 msg
25) Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer "Thank You, Father, Lord of Heaven and earth. You've concealed Your ways from sophisticates and know -It -alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people.
26) Yes, Father, that's the way that You like to work."
27)Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. "The Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.
28) "Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover you life. I'll show you how to take a real rest.
29) walk with me and work with me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of Grace (God's overwhelming desire to treat you and me as if sin never happened) I won't lay anything heavy or ill fitting on you.
30) keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly"
As i was listening to my pastor today, this stuck out at me....that i was to share this passage of scripture as quoted in the Message Bible.
This clearly states that God loves us so much that He has decided to make His ways known to those of us (whosoevers from John 3:16) who have ears to hear. But we have to choose to hear. In Matthew 13:15 it says that the hearts of the people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes - so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear and their hearts cannot understand. (Honestly looking at this passage.... these people made a choice to harden their hearts and have ears to not hear).....So how does one get ears to hear? You say Father i choose to have ears to hear, eyes to see and a heart that understands. Then thank Him for opening our ears and minds and hearts.
As we listen to Him tenderly telling the people that The Father desires for us to know how to have and live a peaceful and stress free life. One full of resting in Him and His ability to take care of us. Which is also connected to Hebrews 4:1-11.
If we put this scripture with Galatians 3:13-14 "Christ hath redeemed (past tense or already done 2000 years ago) us from the curse of the Law, being made a curse for us: for it is written cursed is everyone that hangeth on a tree: get this now......... vs. 14....that the Blessing of Abraham might come on the gentiles through Jesus Christ; that WE might receive the Promise of the Spirit through faith. KJV
Lets read this in the nlt........But Christ has rescued us from the curse pronounced by the law. When He was hung on the cross, He took upon Himself the curse for our wrongdoing. For it is written in the scriptures, "cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree". Through Christ Jesus, God has blessed the gentiles with the same blessing He promised to Abraham, so that we who are believers might receive the Promised Holy Spirit by Faith.
As i read ahead of the verses above...I am thinking that God wants me to share those to. Vs. 15-29
15)"Dear brothers and sisters, here is an example from everyday life. Just as no one can set aside or amend an irrevocable agreement, so it is in this case.
16) God gave the promises to Abraham and His child. And notice that the scripture doesn't say "to his children," as if it meant many descendants. Rather, it says "to his child" - that of course, means Christ.
17) This is what i am trying to say: the agreement God made with Abraham could not be canceled 430 years later when God gave the law to Moses. God would be breaking His promise.
18) For if the inheritance could be received by keeping the law, then it would not be the result of accepting God's promise. But God graciously gave it to Abraham as a promise.
19) Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the Child who was promised. God gave His law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people.
20) Now a mediator is helpful if more than one party must reach an agreement. But God, who is one, did not use a mediator when He gave His promise to Abraham.
21) Is there a conflict, then, between God's law and God's promises? Absolutely not! If the law could give us new life, we could be made right with God by obeying it.
22) But the Scriptures declare that we are all prisoners of sin, so we receive God's promise of freedom Only by believing in Jesus Christ.
23) Before the way of faith in Christ was available to us, we were placed under guard by the law. We were kept in protective custody, so to speak, until the way of faith was revealed.
24) Let me put it another way. The law was our guardian until Christ came; it protected us until we could be made right with God through Faith.
25) And now that the way of Faith has come, we no longer need the law as our guardian.
26) For you are all children of God through Faith in Christ Jesus.
27) And all who have been united with Christ in baptism, have put on Christ like putting on new clothes.
28) There is no longer Jew or gentile, slave or free, male or female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus.
29) And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are His heirs, and God's promise to Abraham belongs to you.
So when we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior....we now become adopted into the Kingdom of God's dear Son. Doesn't that just make you want to shout? Glory be to Jesus! His Word done preached me happy!
