The SCAMS Continue to Evolve, No Into AI

About ten years ago some scammers called my grandmother pretending to be her grandson (me!) and begged for money. They really shook her up but she was prescient enough to call me on my cell phone before she did anything she might regret. It's a good thing I picked up since I was able to tell her I was fine and saved her a world of hassle.

This is good information to pass on to your children for their children (those of you old enough to have grandkids).

We would like to think that we are all smart enough to recognize what is going on when it is going on.

BUT.........having had my mother who was living with us for 10 years, and having Elderly Dementia, if she had gotten a call like that, she would have gone and taken every dime she had in the bank, then robbed the bank of all it had and would have gotten General Pattons 3rd Army to take it to the caller for one of her grandchildren.

That is the people who are prayed upon by scammers and they get more and more demented and smarter every day.

Years ago, we were warned about knocks at the door from people pretending to be the Plummer to fix our pipes… or letters through the door from charities begging for money or dodgy insurance sales men. Gypsies tried to sell us bracelets or get cursed, and
On holiday we got pestered by time share scammers and loaded with free gifts into buying from and pickpockets were the crime gangs on street corners.

How I miss the good old days…

But yes, safe words and good protection should be at the forefront of every family today.
