Yes, as you stated, there are NO Scriptures that say "Revived Roman Empire". Honestly, I have no idea who was the 1st Bible teacher to coin that phrase. Personally, I heard it back in the 60's in an escotology class by Dr. Edward Hinson. He siad exactly what you said in that the phrase is not in the Bible.

Now, signs of a revived Roman Empire are emerging before our eyes. Consider this timeline of European events:

1946: Winston Churchill said the tragedy of Europe could only be solved by a European national grouping.

1948: A foundation was laid for a new organization known as the European Economic Community. t

March 25, 1957: A treaty was signed on Capitoline Hill, one of the seven famous hills of Rome = The Treaty Of Rome.

1973: England, Ireland, and Denmark joined the European Economic Community.

1981: Greece joined the European Economic Community, which made it a ten-nation confederation. Prophecy buffs from all over the world thought this would usher in the Lord’s return. However, the prophecy does not say ten nations; it says ten kings, ten leaders, ten men, ten people of influence.

January 1, 1986: Spain and Portugal were added, and the European Economic Community officially adopted the goal of a politically unified Europe.

1989: The Berlin Wall was dismantled.

1991: The Soviet Union was dissolved.

December 31, 1992: The economic borders between the nations of the European Economic Community were removed.

1993: The European Union was formed. = European Community.

1995: Three more members were added to the European Union: Austria, Finland, and Sweden.

2002: 80 billion coins were produced for use in the twelve participating nations, introducing what we know as the Euro.

May 1, 2004: Cypress, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Slovakia, and Slovenia all became members.

2007: Romania and Bulgaria joined the European Union.

2009: The European Community’s institutions were absorbed into the European Union and ceased to exist.

2013: Croatia joined the European Union.

Gradually yet steadily, the nations of Europe have come together. Rome is more integrated today than at any time since the days of Jesus. According to the prophecies of Daniel, this new Roman Empire represented by the feet and toes of Daniel’s beast and by the ten horns of the beast in Daniel 7 will have to be present when the end-time events begin to happen.

That certainly is an outline of the ECONOMIC aspect of the Global Government. The `Free trade` policy has spread throughout the world, but only multi-nationals are benefitting. Still, it will bring the world together under the IMF (International Monetary Fund), as planned.

In Zech. 5: 5 - 11 we read in Jewish idiom of an ephah (measuring) with wickedness, (false religion) being taken over to Shinar, Babylon. This reveals that the economic infrastructure of the Global Government it taken over to Babylon, the world`s center of Government.

Personally I think that we are on much surer ground if we see the literal rebuilt 3rd temple referenced in 2 Thess. 2:4.

If so, then it seems that there may well be rebuilt a 3rd temple. Thus, when the antichrist sits on the mercy seat, claiming to be God, he will have culminated a long line of multiple and partial fulfillments of Daniel's prophecy, beginning with Antiochus Epiphanes.

The Lord never used the Greek word `naos` to refer to the Temple of the holy site.

Marilyn, according to my understanding of the books of Daniel and Revelation, the Revived Roman Empire is either a generic world political system or a specific nation under a specific ruler.

Daniel 7:7......
"After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten horns."

Again, it is my understanding as I read the Scriptures that the Revived Roman Empire is commonly associated with the fourth beast of Daniel chapter 7. This beast is described as “terrifying and frightening and very powerful”.

I believe that this ten-horned beast is a prophetic picture of the Roman Empire in verses 19–24, but, as Daniel watches, a little horn rises from the beast, with “eyes like the eyes of a human being and a mouth that spoke boastfully” (verse 8).

Now if this final little horn is not the Antichrist, then who is it must be the question. So then, as I understand it, He (A/C) who will somehow be connected with the Roman Empire. Since the Roman Empire has been defunct since the fifth century, it seems to me that we can expect it to be a “revived” in some way to fulfill the end-times’ prophecies.

As everyone can have an opinion it is on a sure foundation to trust in God`s word. God always interprets what He writes and never leaves it for us to conjecture or speculate.

There is nothing in Dan. 7: 7 to suggest that God would let revive what He has judged. The former empires of the Middle East have all come and gone. And the Final Gentile Global Government is described as -

`The fourth beast shall be a fourth kingdom on the earth, which shall be different from all other kingdoms,....` (Dan. 7: 23)

Europe is NOT so much different from America, England, Canada, Australia etc.

`...it had ten horns. I was considering the horns, and there was another horn, a little one, coming up among them,...` (Dan. 7: 8)

God`s word tells us that this little horn, (Dan. 7: 8) is the Assyrian. (Isa. 31: 8) There we see the Lord defending Israel and about to deal with the A/C, (little horn). (Isa. 31: 4 & 5)

Assyria was the regions of Iraq, Syria and Jordan, (3 horns). Note where the Middle East is having trouble - Iraq, Syria and Jordan. When the Russian Federation is brought down to the Golan Heights by God for judgment, then the world will see the Peace negotiator (little horn) come on the scene.

Those 3 nations - Iraq, Syria and Jordan were all colonized, divided up by a `line in the sand` by France and England after WW 1. They now have their independence, however, it will be the Peace Negotiator (A/C) who will take away (pull up) those roots and make them one again. (Dan. 7: 8)

And it is quite obvious who will be - `devouring, breaking in pieces and trampling the residue with its feet.` (Dan. 7: 7)

After Oct. 7 in the Middle East, it certainly will not be the EU who does not like to go to war, but the formidable great power of Islam that will terrorize the whole world and commit such atrocities.

Verse 18 seems to be speaking about the Vatican ( speculation based on history and verses 9 and 18.). Verses 10 and 11 support your position as the Antichrist being an Assyrian, for the beast to have been, is not (Rome was in power at the time this was written) and is yet to come. The Antichrist is of the 7 and is the 8th. Islam is the 3rd largest religion in the world and the fastest growing religion, after the rapture of the church Christianity will see it's numbers reduced dramatically making Islam much more influential in world politics. The woman is the false religion of the end times (The Pope has called for a unification of the world's religions into a one world religion.) She will be destroyed when the Antichrist declares himself to be god and the people of the world turn to worship him. Thoughts?

In Daniel 8 a little horn comes out of one of the four surviving components of the Greek Empire following Alexander’s death. This is commonly thought to be the Selucid Kingdom in today’s Syria which is probably where you are coming from.
However, upon careful consideration, we can see that This prophecy was fulfilled in the life of Antiochus Epiphanes, the Selucid King responsible for the desecration of the Temple and subsequent Maccabbean revolt in 168-165 BC.

But beginning in Daniel 8:23 the Angel Gabriel’s interpretation of Daniel’s vision also seems to include an end times reference to the anti Christ, called a stern faced king, who will come to power by means of peace.

This reference has helped scholars see Antiochus as a type of the anti Christ since much of what he did in prompting the Maccabbean revolt will be repeated at the beginning of the Great Tribulation.

Like the antichrist, Antiochus called himself a god, and set about to destroy Israel. He erected a statue in his own likeness in the Holy Place, and required worship on pain of death. This too was called the Abomination of Desolation and sparked a 3 1/2 year revolt.

I am currently intrigued with the notion of al Mahdi, the so-called Moslem Messiah as a likely candidate for the anti Christ, although I don’t believe the church will be around to see him emerge, but I can not get away from the fact that the A/C will stand in the rebuilt 3rd Temple. I am perplexed that anyone except a Jew be allowed in the Temple to speak.

I am sure you are correct as I have never looked into this at all. However, it seems to me that the problem is the Greek term used there is NOT relevant to identifying the Spiritual nature of what Christ was speaking about. It simply means "Holy or Sacred place" and can include the entire precincts (Remember Jesus spoke about leveling even with the ground, not only the Temple Sanctuary but the entire city).

It would be akin to us saying that we are a member of the assembly, church, and congregation. The terms are synonymous and speak of every congregation everywhere. In John chapter 2 both those Greek terms are used.

Besides, I have no problem with them saying the disciples spoke of the literal temple (G2411 - hieron). In fact, we can see it's quite OBVIOUS! Keep in mind that the disciples were not greatly enlightened as yet so were still thinking in terms of the Old Testament dispensation, as the Holy Spirit of "revealing" had not been poured out at Pentecost yet.

I did check your previous post and am looking at Rev. 17. Now I can understand people thinking that this `woman` is of the Vatican. However, that means we are having part symbolic and part reality when interpreting her. The description is of a `high Priest,` which she thinks she is over all the other religions and people of the earth. (Rev. 17: 5) And we know that even though the Pope is trying to gather many religions together he does not have them all. However, there is one entity that does cover all the religions and has imposed her religion over all the world. If you don`t obey her moral values you can get fined or even jailed. The businesses have to comply to her religion if they want business and people to buy their goods. So who is she? I`ll let you have think first.

We both agree that the `little horn` of Dan. 7: 8 will be the A/C, we just disagree from where he comes.

Now as to Dan. 8 little horn, I agree that Antiochus did desecrate the Temple, however, that is not the final desecration as we know so it is only a forerunner of that final event which we would both agree is by the A/C. Antiochus does not fulfill all that Dan. 8 says so he is not the one described but it is the A/C.

Israel is not going to build another Temple, (before the millennium Ez. 40 - 48) because they already have a Temple in Jerusalem they have been worshipping there for 4 decades.


The Temple built by Solomon, the Temple frequented by Jesus and His Disciples were both built on Mount Moriah. Ezekiel predicts that another will be constructed on the same place after Jesus returns in Glory. Every reference to all three Temples on this site was a translation of the Greek Word "Hieron".

Any "Temple" erected elsewhere was invariably from the Greek word "Naos". This word is frequently rendered "Meeting Place", "Dwelling" or "Synagogue". It is the later word "Naos" that is used by Paul (2 Thess 2:4) in reference to the Temple used by contemporary Israel. It has absolutely no connection exegetically with the site on Mt. Moriah. In fact there is no prerequisite for it to be built there. To the contrary, in line with Greek usage, it must be constructed elsewhere.


The Embassy of Israel advises that on August 1982, in the Presence of the Prime Minister, Menachem Begin, Members of Cabinet and many other notables, the Jerusalem great Synagogue was dedicated. It is situated in King George Street, and is constructed from the same local stone as was Solomon's Temple. The central feature is a high tower containing five magnificent stained-glass windows, topped by two tablets of stone, bearing the Ten Commandments.

The Temple referred to by Paul is built!


In the interior, marble has been used extensively, especially for the Ark situated beneath the stained-glass windows. This I believe is the Holy Place which will be desecrated by the "Abomination of Desolation" referred to by Jesus (Matthew 24:15)

I understand your point. However there is something else that you need to consider.

Saddam Hussein committed many mistakes, but when he started to build a palace in ancient Babylon in 1985, he committed a mortal sin. Why? The God of the Bible says that ancient Babylon shall never be rebuilt.

Jeremiah 50:13
"Because of the LORD’s anger she will not be inhabited but will be completely desolate. All who pass Babylon will be horrified and scoff because of all her wounds."

If the servants of Allah can managed to rebuild Babylon, these prophetic words are false, and God of Israel will be proven a false God.

Well.....we will have to be in a position of disagreement on this particular topic.

What most people do not realize is that One of the biggest developments on this topic we are discussing, involves the red heifer purification ceremony. It is an essential step toward restoring temple worship that could not be done until now.
Here is the key.........The ceremony was supposed to happen in the Passover to Pentecost window of 2024.

However, due to the Oct. 7 Hamas attacks and tensions with the Biden administration, plans were put on hold.

I agree, Antiochus was not final event. It was in fact a "picture" of what was to come.

Daniel 8:9 says, the little horn “grew exceedingly great.” Real History reveals that king Antiochus did not fulfill this prophecy during his rule by becoming a great leader. His rule did not extend to the surrounding nations like Egypt and Macedonia.

Saddam Hussein committed many mistakes, but when he started to build a palace in ancient Babylon in 1985, he committed a mortal sin. Why? The God of the Bible says that ancient Babylon shall never be rebuilt.

Jeremiah 50:13

If the servants of Allah can managed to rebuild Babylon, these prophetic words are false, and God of Israel will be proven a false God.

Yes, the Global Government is made up of Political, Economic and religious systems. So, the religious and Economic and Political aspects of the GG are a part of the great city being rebuilt, Babylon.
