The Way (poem)

The Way

If only the Way were easier,
If only the Way was straight.
Courage, I need to continue.
Patience, . . . I need to wait.

So many hours full of challenge,
Yet life on this earth is too short.
Why do I struggle and fight it?
Why don't I do what I ought?

Your gift to me is so precious.
Your love, so boundless and free,
With opening eyes, I behold it:
When I focus on You, not on me.

Days, they come and they go now,
Often mixed with laughter and fear.
Along this road I'll keep walking,
Deep inside I know You are near.

Danger or doubt may assail me:
"The path is too narrow," some say.
But in my heart are words written:
"I AM the Truth, the Life and the Way."

(John 14:6)
