When we see the events going on in the world and the pain it brings - there can be a pretty strong temptation to side with one side or the other on the secular ideological bent.... Either conservative or liberal.....
"Liberals" tend to believe that all the problems of the world would go away if we could rid the world of certain "Conservative" practices....
"Conservatives" tend to believe that all the problems of the world would go away if we could rid the world of certain "Liberal" practices......
There is a great danger in The Christian Community falling prey to this - as it tends to blind us to the REAL situation going on.....
No matter how hard you try - you won't fill up the unfulfillment, longing, anger, hurt, emptiness, and frustration with the promises of The Secular World... It does not matter whether those promises are "Conservative" or "Liberal".....
See - the lie the Secular World teaches is "This will make you whole.. This will make you fulfilled, joyful, and peaceful" And it won't.... It can't... That's what we need to see in all this... That since the 1960's - The Black Community is not FEELING better, more fulfilled, more whole, more justice, more peace, more joy...... But neither is ANY part of the Secular community - whether it's gays, swingers, communists, liberals, moral conservatives, social conservatives, libertarians, or 'the rich'.....
Look at Romans 1:21-32 - This is the progression that "Secular values" bring... It's exactly what we are seeing.... When the first effort of the Secular World doesn't work to bring fulfillment and wholeness - they double down.... That doesn't work so they double down AGAIN.. Sometimes, they flip flop flavors of Seclarism going from "Conservative" to "Liberal" - but it's a zero sum....
The SERIOUS danger that WE CHRISTIANS are in is mistaking a flip-flopping of Flavors of Secularism for an acceptance of God and His ways.... It's not.... but we see SO MANY Christians speaking out that that the "REAL" problem is a problem of political ideology - and changing this will solve society's ills...
Flip flopping from Secular Liberalism to Secular Conservatism won't get us anywhere.... just as flip flopping from secular Conservatism to Liberalism didn't get us anywhere in the 60's....
The only thing that will get us BACK is The Church standing up and proclaiming The Truth - that Secularism in any flavor WILL NOT and CAN NOT produce the wholeness, joy, and fulfillment you are after - and that ONLY JESUS can...
