Thought For June 30

Good Day, Friends; The Book of Ecclesiastes was most likely written by King Solomon around 935 BC. The actual author is not mentioned in the Book, but the writing style is that of Solomon. In the Book, he tells us that material wealth does not bring true happiness, for those things which we acquire during our lives will be left behind at our death. The only things that we CAN take with us is our Love for God and all the joy He brings to our lives when we believe and accept His message to us. The final sentences in the Book of Ecclesiastes are our guide to proper living. ECC 12:13-14 (NLT), "13 Here is my final conclusion: Fear* God and obey His commands, for this is the duty of every person. 14 God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad."

Put aside the extravagant things which take your time away from God - and follow the teachings of Solomon. His wealth was made by sharing his wisdom with others in exchange for gifts. But nothing, including his wealth, was as important to him as his love and reverence for God. May God Bless.

[Note*: The word 'fear' in this part of the Old Testament is translated directly from the Hebrew word for 'reverence'.]
