It has been said that time is the framework for change and without change time has no meaning.
Time is not a factor in eternity. Before the fall everything was perfect. Perfect needs no correction or support so time is not required. Our best conception of eternity is 'no yesterday or tomorrow, just now'.
God is just so when Lucifer thought he had a better idea God created time to show the error for what it is.
The devil now seeing his position has no options he might be the best 'antithesist' he can because it is all going down the drain anyways.
Death he'll and the grave have been defeated and we will again move into eternity.

Time is not a "thing". It is a construct that we use to compare things. Time is nothing more than a way to measure decay, growth and order of appearance. Hours, days and years are as arbitrary as inches, yards, meters and miles when measuring distance. If God would change the speed of the rotation of the Earth, our clocks would end up being worthless.

I expect we are in agreement that space (universe) and time are a creation, then it is not eternal for only God is eternal, and all that is in Him...
St. John says 'In the beginning' of course we know that eternity has no beginning so what beginning is here being referred to?
In the beginning when the Word was being expressed in creation. A spin off from this shows that the Word and God are the self and same, just a different expression.

Time on my hands lol is an interesting thread that caught my attention. I don't really think of time the way you and Big Moose are sharing, but it still gave me food for thought.

I always pray for spiritual time management to the Lord to make the most of each day. There is also time that I make to just rest and relax with my wife.

Big Moose posted "time is not a thing." Time is precious and it was created by God for His purpose. I didn't create time and perhaps that's why I've wasted so much of it.

I'm constantly around older people in their mid 50s to late 80s and the ones in their early 90s. This is a time that I make to listen. One of the things they share is "every minute of their life is to make the most of it, and not worry about it." I hear that a lot.

When we were in our 20s and 30s we didn't think of time except to arrive at work on time, (for example.)

2404, when you shared "time is not a factor in eternity" says to me that we leave time behind the day we go to our Maker.

The beginning of space, time, matter, and energy or as we like to call it... creation. God is eternal but His creation has a beginning. All of what we can see and hear and touch and smell and sense or measure throughout all the cosmos shares this beginning. God is outside of time and space, we within its construct can only imagine what eternity is, for we will only know it when He calls us there.

IMO time consists of the past and the present with the present becoming the past 1 millisecond after it's experienced. The future isn't part of time because the future doesn't yet exist, it is an abstraction of postulated possibilities.

Eternity is a state of continuous present without any past or future.

There is a saying I like: "The past is history, the future a mystery, but the present is a gift."

Yes alot is left to our imagination. It has been awhile but if I remember 'google' says some satellites loose as much as 8 seconds in a year so we know time is not a constant. Also interesting our perception of time is influenced by our current placement. When we're kids the summers seemed to last forever but as we get on and our time experience piles up we wonder where the summer went. I suppose time is a gift and like all gifts we will be held accountable for the use thereof.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking. The way I understand the point made by Solomon in Eccesiastes is related to human nature and behavior rather than time in an absolute sense. I'd appreciate a bit of clarification. Thanks and God bless.

Just stretching the imagination. A God that is eternal, omniscient & omnipotent can anything really be new from an eternal perspective?
A simplified analogy, consider the discovery of the TV, it was always there it is just that we tapped into it in last 75 years.
So an infinite God unfolds things in an predetermined manner with 'existing' resources, if that makes any sense.
Omniscience meaning we don't have a thought that wasn't foreknown.
If I'm way out in left field just write me off as an old senile man lol.

My comments were made in an objective, general form. Of course, from a Scriptural standpoint there are NO postulated possibilities concerning the future. There are only divine certainties promised by our faithful God. Our future is eternal, and we have already began our eternal, abundant lives.

You're definitely not a senile old man. You are my marvelous Christian brother whom I will meet in person at the throne of God.
