I look at it not so much that God is trying to find out something about us (which, as Adstar said, He already knows) as it is that tribulation reveals to us our own nature and the state of our faith.
Thanks for this post Rumely! I have been "going through the mill" a lot recently, and it is so good to be reminded that whatever happens ~"In all things God is working for the good of those who love him" (Rom.8.28).
God has revealed so much to me over the last few months, and increased my faith.
