What causes confusion and abuse of Christian titles

Derek88, I would only remind you of one of the Forum rules…

“ Rule 3.2c Any discussions about any individual, teacher, preacher, pastor, minister, evangelist, media personality, organization, etc., will be closely monitored. Any claims that a named person or organization teaches or supports false doctrine MUST be well documented. Unsubstantiated claims, rumors or hearsay will not be allowed. Any such posts or threads will be removed and a reminder, warning or ban issued as necessary.”

Beside it being a bit off topic..

“ Rule 2.3 Members starting threads on specific topics expect that the threads will stay essentially on topic. Any member, other than the person starting the thread, who takes a specific thread way off topic and derails the content of the thread will be given a friendly staff notice. A second derailment or continuation of the off topic direction by that member will result in a warning and all non topical posts in that thread will be eliminated. A third off topic hijacking by that member will result in a 1 week time out and all non topical posts in that thread will be eliminated. A fourth offense will result in a permanent ban and all posts by that member will be removed from CFS.“

I was probably a bit at fault for luring you in that direction, sorry.
Yes, I agree, sorry about that! Lord Bless you!

**The confusion and abuse of Christian titles**

There are many problems in the Church today and I am sure that we could all mention a few. One of the most evident though is the total confusion about roles/titles and the abuse that is often made by many Christian leaders. I believe that a lot of this confusion and abuse stems from two main issues: ignorance of what Scripture and/or Christian traditions say and personal arrogance and pride by many Christian leaders. My concern is that this issue is not only creating doubt and confusion among members but it raises an endless number of questions among non-believers.
One problem is that people tend to convert a verb to a noun. It's a position of action and not a job title. It's based on the need that people to seek validation. And it's a pride thing as well. People trying to fill their hearts with things rather than God.

in some ways the Church has allowed the issue of leader titles to be over done. when one holds a position as leader of anything in Church. we tend to forget we are servants first to the members 2nd the church it self. we elevate positions i have known leaders good people truly care about the Church.. but will not support it in every thing that goes on.. a deacon i know will not or did when i was at the Church.. would not support sunday night church or wed night Bible study or even a church meeting for a few days

The difference is between a "title" many men love being called by, and actual "function."

What's not taught within churchianity is that ALL true believers can and should "function" in a pastoral "function" when discipling new believers. The title seems to be relegated exclusively to someone with a piece of paper from some Bible Cemetery framed in a physical office.

ALL of you mature believers should be living out the pastoral "function" if you are witnessing to others. If not, that's between you and the Lord.

the pastoral "function"
is to feed the sheep to watch over them there are pastors and then we have the hirelings and yes the Body should work together .
not all pastors function in this mode (a piece of paper from some Bible Cemetery framed in a physical office) my ordination certificate is in my lock box at the bank. it belongs to me God called me and gave it to me. Bait

As followers of the Master, we all should function as pastors or teachers or evangelists or theologians, whatever the Lord needs at the location and time each of us finds himself.. The gifts we are apportioned along with the scripture with which we are familiar along with the experiences from which we have learned will make each of us unique with some being more skilled in a given 'role' than others.

Where we are as yet unskilled, if we let the Spirit empower and guide us we will be successful in accomplishing what the lord wishes.

Not following the Spirit and relying on personal 'strengths' can cause failures that become 'learning experiences'.
