What does it mean to follow Jesus?

I prayed recently about I exactly I should next and the reply I got (via my sister) is that I should follow Jesus. I really didn't get what that meant and I kept asking for clarity.

Do you remember being a child and learning about God. I had this wonderful image of Him working in a workshop creating everything to put on the Earth, handpainting the animals and trees etc. I also remember trusting in Him with a complete innocence that can be very hard to re-create as an adult. Skepticism and cynicism in the world can colour one's beliefs. Maintaining this childlike trust in God is what keeps me going. Knowing that He is my Father and that i can reach out and take His hand at any time and know it will always be there is just an incredible feeling.
