What Happens When Christians Forget?

In post #8... I included a video of someone who has a dark past.... I myself have a very dark past... and I am not trying to undermind or excuse SIN in any way... shape or form.... but I will say this....

In my darkest days of despair... ONCE I had been a CHRISTIAN for almost 2 decades... the problem was not repenting for my sins... for I had done so ... over and over again.... without the ability to FEEL FORGIVEN.

WHAT changed for me... was the knowledge that I was UNCONDITIONALLY LOVED BY GOD. Until HE convinced me that HE loved me... there was NOTHING that could penetrate my heart.

So... I'm not saying that we should not repent... or be taught right from wrong... I'm just saying that we need to be TAUGHT what the scripture states about WHO WE ARE IN CHRIST.

A soul that knows it is SAFE... CHERISHED and LOVED by God is the soul that will bring forth LIGHT to dark places.
Yes.....you are correct.

May I say here that what yu just said is "the" reason why Sunday School or Bible Study is so important.

In a preached sermon, the congregation hears what the Preacher has to say but what he says may not have any bearing on the needs of those listening.

In Sunday School, I taught the teachers and then they taught their classes. The people in the class, whether it was children or elderly, had the opportunity to ask the teacher questions. That does not happen in a Sunday morning sermon. The Pastor speaks, the congregation listens and then we go home. BUT.......we might not have the question answered that was on our heart.

In Sunday School/Bible Study the door is always open for questions and when the Holy Spirit is in control, things happen and lives are changed.

Example: The sermon on a Sunday may be that God owes you something and if you give $100 to God He will give you back more that you can hold.

Of course, the 1st thing to know is that that kind of message is ridiculous! However, the person sitting in the pew may have just gone through a death of a loved one and money and giving is the last thing on their mind. BUT......in a classroom, with others and a teacher, that person can open up, ask questions and get advice from those who have gone through the same thing.

We always had Sunday School. Two hundred on the average every Sunday. From nursery, to children, to teens and then couples class and College classes and seniors class.

Now here is a fact......more people were saved in Sunday School than any other ministry. You see, teachers taught young the Word of God. As they grew older, into the teens those teachers instilled the need to be saved and when they heard me preach the gospel, then they understood and came to Christ.

What am I saying???? I agree with you 1--% in that we must be taught right from wrong. We must be told that we need to repent!

Boy is that the truth! Did you here about the 90 year old man standing in front of the bathroom and he said, was I going in or did I just come out?
Now, that sounds familiar!!... And I'm only 76 LOL

Really.

The other day, my wife asked me why I was just standing at the bottom of the stairs. I said, darlin, I don't remember if I just came down or I was going up those stairs.

I'm only 68. You guys are scaring me. Don't tell me it's inevitable! 😯!!!!

s which he re-quoted.

You then went on to state that you disagree with them.???? I'm not sure what you are trying to state... but this is what I have gleaned from your posts.

You seem to be experiencing a lament that church music has changed from old hymns to more modern Worship music.
one thing i am not and that's a writer no disagreement with him..... I'm just stating what's out there ..i watch some mega church services your choirs are of the cream of the crop to notch talent . no i am not in full favor of replacing the hymns %100 PERSONALLY I FAVOR A MIXTURE OF THE NEW WITH THE OLD..

what i see on my computer screen is a gospel concert of top notch entertainment .. i happen to know some talented singers they sing from the heart under the anointing. they may stop in mid song or give a few minutes intro testimony message before the song . some might even have a run away in the spirit shout or start crying .

i watched a young lady at my bro church sing goodness of God.. she is good but will get better as she sings... the altar was used during the song...

we program our services too the point of being spiritual robots . people may call me a trouble maker or a person who has no idea what they are talking about.. its not so much the type music regardless of my preference .. do we allow the Holy spirit to move.. what if the power of God hits and they can no longer sing.. the preacher cant preach... i have experienced this been in services like that. i have seen the altars used in the 2nd song . it broke out people came out of the pews to either pray or pray with those praying.. i lament for the Church to return back to the heart of worship .

it education/talent over anointing ..i cant sing very good my wife tells me i tear a song up lol..... its the anointing that destroys the yoke . i long for the old time revivals church house full . spirit of God moving . am i radikal yes i am in closing our biggest enemy is the person we see in the mirror

your exactly right a good Sunday school teacher is a valuable person to the pastor and the church . both are equally important in value

Good morning Forgiven...

As you are aware... I am UNCHURCHED.... The churches I have attended in the past have both embraced the more modern Worship music venue. Both churches openly encouraged and invited all members to participate.... Both churches promoted CORPORATE Worship.
I feel very blessed to have experienced the POWER and PRESENCE of God in those days. WE do not have such churches in the city I live now.

I listen to all types of music. The internet allows very easy access to all forms of Worship/Christian music. I also listen to classical... jazz... harp.

The Title of this Thread is What Happens When Christians Forget. The topic has moved along to church and choice of music.

I feel the NEED to emphasize for anyone who may be reading this thread... that there is NO such thing as a spiritual loss of blessings over the type of music we listen to or don't listen to. Christian music is created to celebrate and honour God. It's all good... it all has equal benefit.... and it is all EQUALLY pleasing to God.

Praise the LORD!
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds;
praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound;
praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance;
praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals;
praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the LORD!

The second song on video the old rugged cross be timeless like so many of those old time hymns. Some churches do away with them completely. I think deep spiritual blessings are lost when done so completely. Forgiven I’m sure your right a balance be required between the old time worship and the modern.
taking hymns out completely is like erasing history
