What is biblical literalism?

Major ...somethings I dont get, and I will go through them, but one that stands out for me is why
Jesus is referred to as the morning star, and satan is also referred to as the morning star?
is this literal?
im confused.

thanks

Good question.

The idea of a “bright morning star” is a star that outshines all the others, and Jesus is the One who is called “bright.” Remember....Satan is an angel! Satan was a morning star. Jesus, as God incarnate, the Lord of the universe, is the BRIGHT and morning star. Jesus is the most holy and powerful “light” in all the universe. So, while both Jesus and Satan can be described as “morning stars,” in no sense is this equating Jesus and Satan. Satan is a created being. His light only exists to the extent that God created it.

Matthew 5:39 is not teaching "pacifism". When we read the whole council of God we see just the opposite.

Even God in the flesh made a whip and scourged the people in the temple and turned over their tables and ran them out phycically!

The “slap” that Jesus says we should endure is Jesus here speaking of personal slights of any kind. The slap (or the “smiting,” as the KJV has it) does not have to involve literal, physical violence. Even in our day, a “slap in the face” is a metaphor for an unexpected insult or offense. Did someone insult you? Let him, Jesus says. Are you shocked and offended? Don’t be. And don’t return insult for insult. Turn the other cheek.
Would be to tie into peter, as we at times may have to suffer for the sake of Christ!

Isn't the Satan reference actually taken out from Latin references though?

Yes it is. The connection between the “Morning Star” and “Satan” has to do with Bible translation. The original Hebrew means, “the brilliant one, son of the morning”. The Greek translation of the Old Testament (Septuagint or LXX), translates it “Morning Star” or literally “bringer of the dawn”. It was Jerome’s translation into Latin where the word “Lucifer” came from. Lucifer comes from two words – “lux” meaning light and “fere” meaning “to carry or bring” making “light bearer”.
