what is grace to you?

Another 'choice' grace passage...

(1Co 15:9) For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
(1Co 15:10) But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

either way

Are you feeling alright ,Brother?
I know your calling is a hard one to pastor or even preach but it seems recently as though you are struggling.
May I pray for you ?

You do know that it should NEVER be about us!
This I have to remind myself of daily! It's about his word, his Spirit, his commandments, and the testimony of him we share.

If your burden is heavy, let us share the load with you and Jesus. His GRACE never fails unless we leave the faith and walk away. It is also sufficient but it has to be used to keep the supply fresh.

feel free to pray for me i am fine . when i say its up to the poster keep the thread going. that is what i mean i opened it up for discussion you see how it has got. Grace is a very important subject that we all need to grasp and get a hold of . as per the church every pastor in the land is scratching there head.. the day we live in are getting darker.
one would think we would flood the Church house listen to the message. yes hit the altar in prayer . the old timers use to call it the mourners bench . but yes i am just fine i just tend to speak freely .

asper my burdens we all should have a burden for the lost . a burden to see Christians grow a burden for revival. on the way home i told the Lord i need a revival everyday in my life .. how about you grass grows best in the valley .not on top of the mountain

It is by GRACE......God's unmerited favour offered .....through faith.......our acceptance of the grace and gift of salvation offered......that we are SAVED.
Ep.2:8

carrying on Ephesians 2:9

For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this not from yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9not by works, so that no one can boast.

No one can boast! lol
That is why we don't talk about it much, because, how can we even boast about grace. It is given to us. We didn't have to earn it. This is the tricky part that a lot of christians miss.

I don't think we can actually 'grasp and get hold of grace' if it is given by God, it is faithfulness that allows grace into our lives.

Faith is not something that you can visibly see all the time. It's there in the background a lot. It's not really until someone is UNfaithful that we can tell if someone is not a christian and they can't then make up for it by, say making a big show of doing works and loudly proclaiming how faithful they are.

uh I don't really know what you mean by 'merited'

I don't really want to argue about it. God gives grace to the humble, he resists the proud, that much I know.

Ppl take God's GRACE for leniency towards sin sometimes when in fact it means he is also longsuffering, tolerant and gracious simply bc he wants NONE to perish.

We trample his grace every day we FORGET to give thanks to him for it, bc as the saying goes" without the grace of God there goes.............."

uh I don't really know what you mean by 'merited'
It simply means something earned. Most here are saying that grace is that which is not earned or merited.
If it is our faithfulness that 'allows grace into our lives', then it would be earned on our part, which would not accord with grace...but...
if you are referring to His faithfulness that 'allows grace into our lives', then I would whole heartedly agree.

Well it is His faithfulness to us
though our faithfulness is I suppose a 'work' or a 'work in progress'

though I would say we are His workmanship...so thats what I mean not that we ever do it ourselves. I suppose we kind of partner with God like he's the potter and we are the clay.

If clay does not have water, it's hard to be shaped.

When I was ill God always told me that His grace is sufficient. I'd wonder what He meant. Basically it meant 'let me look after you'. I didn't have to do anything, but be patient that He was working on me.

Saint Presley once sang...
🎸🎵🎵🎶"Fools rush in, where angels fear to tread"🎵🎵🎶🎸

I suppose it could be equally said, "Legalists rush in, where grace softly encounters."

Daniel 4:30 (NASB) "The king reflected and said, 'Is this not Babylon the great, which I myself have built as a royal residence by the might of my power and for the glory of my majesty?'

Zechariah 4:6 (NASB) Then he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, 'Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,' says the LORD of hosts.

How to fall from grace…in one easy step…

Galatians 5:4 NKJV
[4] You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Simply reject the free gift of righteousness through Jesus Christ and by your own efforts seek to attain your own righteousness.

the subject fallen from grace . can open a big can of worms the once in grace always in grace and those who believe one can. Calvinism teaches p.o.s preservation of the saints . i am not Calvinist and many parts of the doctrine i disagree with . i do agree with p.o.s which in nut shell those truly saved will stick with it .

I was just quoting the Scripture. Sometimes it helps when learning what a topic (grace) is, it is good to learn what it is not (self attainment).

that is how doctrines are made off one scripture
What I stated was what Paul had said. Taking into account the whole Book of Galatians, could you please explain how it doesn't fit into 'what is grace to you?'. Here is the verse,...

Galatians 5:4 NKJV
[4] You have become estranged from Christ, you who attempt to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.

Go ahead and explain how that would be taking just one verse (out of context) when that verse summarizes the root of the Galatian error.

i know what you posted and i am familiar with it. i been in services where the scripture was brought out to prove one can. see at no time did i say you took it out of context i simply made a comment

it has Nothing to do with what you posted. it was a comment .which is what we do in a forum

{ Sometimes it helps when learning what a topic (grace) is, it is good to learn what it is not (self attainment ). and i agree paul covered this very thing when he wrote what shall we sin because we are under grace. his reply certainly not then he wrote what grace really does

Titus 2:11-13

11 For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men,
12 Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
13 Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;
this is what grace does ..i do hope you understand my point
in the words of Peg Mckamey Grace is better experienced than explained
