what is your go to Study Bible?

I'm reading Paul a biography by NT Wright.

It's quite good so far though, most of what we know of Paul is from the Bible anyway. I suppose having it in a dedicated narrative helps focus on who Paul is and how he turned from persecutor to missionary. I can look up the bible passages and the people it refers to eg. Phinehas who was so zealous for God that he killed one of his own brothers who was fornicating with a foreigner.

Just be careful of NT Wright, as while good concernig the resuurect, he is NT Wrong on Justification!

Hello Major,

Yes that is correct, I believe a lot of the letters where written to believers in many different areas of the earth at that time. You can notice them in many of the introductory first verses of who is writing and who it is being sent to. All of these people have passed away and are gone now. The Bible only has some application to us now and not everything in it in my view of the scripture. Reading the Bible is very helpful to spiritual growth and also growing in faith in Gods promises.

I would offer.. It as it is writen by the finger of God.. . sola scriptura (all things written in the law and prohets) has nothing to do with people passing away . But rather a new born again spirit that works giving new spirit life from within .

The Bible is not a private interpretation of man or personal commentary. . If he wrote it to one. . its provides the good news to all who hear and believe as the Spirit works within .

In that way beleivers as new creatures receive the end of faith (Christ's) that works in us from the beginning .

This shows the word of God is not of ones private interpretation as a witness of men . It is the witness of God not seen .Two kinds of witnesses .

Satan would have mankind believe its all one in the same witness .and therefore don't trust the unseen Holy Spirit but rather mix faith in what a person does see or hear .

Like in the gospel below

1 Peter 1:9-11 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.

They having the same spirit of faith as it is written looked ahead by it we can look back

2 Corinthians 4:13 We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak;

No private letters writen to, for or from any believer. I would think we can serve a living, abiding word.

1 John 5:9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.

A good study of the diffrences between the witness of man and the unsen witness of God can be beneficail in ignoring the wiles of the devil .in a hope of rightly dividing

Usurping the greatest witness "Gods witness". It is how the father of lies works to decieve in any generation under the Sun .

I would offer. When looking at the doctrine of "false zealously" It is shown coming from a hierarchy of mankind, fathers, kings and princes .(the abomination of desolation ) men standing in the unseen place o faith. Jehovah our Almighty God. . who became our savaior .The King of kings and Lord of lords .

The pagan foundation KIngs in Israel out of sight out of mind .it revealed No faith as it is written. (sola scriptura) Exposing theNon converted . . I heard it through the grapevine. . oral traditions of faithless mankind .

They being moved by a higher venerable ones the high priest they are given letters of their personal approval to murder men and woman. .(Acts 22) Again as in “out of sight out of mind”. Like that with faithless Cain who murdered his brother Abel, the first recorded martyr and Cain buried him under the corn in the field. His blood cries out longing to be clothed with the incorruptible. All believers die not receiving it.

The “law of the fathers” men lording it over the faith of the non-venerable pew sitters could not prove that the law and the prophets (sola scriptura) was heresy .It exposed the heresy of a hierarchy of men standing in the place of Christ’s faith.

Acts24:13-14 Neither can they prove the things whereof they now accuse me. But this I confess unto thee, that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and in the prophets:

Worship God of the fathers. Not worship the fathers (legion) as if they were God . The abomination of desolation .

I'm enjoying this post and wanted to ask this question but also share.

When or what time of the day do you read your Bible? I like to read mine in the evening before going to bed. I find that I sleep better.

Lately, the last 3 nights "I had dreams of talking with others about my faith or Scriptures."

Mornings are out of the question. zzzz
I used to be a night person for prayer and study. ☕☕☕
Now, with age, I resort to cookies and milk 🍪🍶 around noon. LOL

Morning or evening.

Huh didn't know NT Wright was actually NT Wrong. It's a biography of Paul, so am not looking for any kind of doctrine - more about his life than his teaching. I can get it from the horses mouth when I read Paul's own letters in the Bible. I read things with an open mind and will look up the scripture to check to see if things are so anyway.

He is good in certain areas, but avoid his view on Pauline Justification!

4 am... I get up early, have coffee, have prayer time and Bible study.

For casual reading I use the NIV, for more in-depth study I use Bible Hub for more translations and languages. Often in doing that I clearly understand certain nuances best, and get a better understanding overall.

I've thought about getting the ESV study Bible myself. For my first Bible I was given the NIV study Bible, and I have an ESV but not the ESV study Bible.

My husband has a Geneva Bible he dearly loves but I swear that's not English hahaha...
