i thought obedience looked more like faith than love as in...
Rom 3:31 Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.
Rom 1:5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
Rom 16:26 But now is made manifest, and by the scriptures of the prophets, according to the commandment of the everlasting God, made known to all nations for the obedience of faith:
Loving God with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves seems to be a fruit of faith...
Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.
Gal 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
Eph 1:15 Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
Good stuff.
Have you ever encountered Hebrew Roots or any other Torah-following people or groups?
I have, and it's astounding how fast they are at letting others know that by not seeking to obey the Mosaic Law, one is living in sin and rejection of God and His Law.

Yes I have, in Messianic Shuls and on online forums. Also part of my encounter with HRM came in the form of my own personal struggles with the law/faith/grace interrelationships, as a result my Bible specialty books have been Romans/Galatians/Hebrews.Have you ever encountered Hebrew Roots or any other Torah-following people or groups?
Sounds like medieval thinking and teaching on indulgences, and the works of supererogation. Soon we'll be hearing the call for indulgences from Tetzel. Many people might look at this thread and think, "What a far off topic. It isn't going to touch me..."
Well, this stuff is just around the corner form all of us. The enemy of our souls is dragging more and more people into the pit of of what has been fulfilled in Christ, and that only He ever lived to the extent that pleased the Father.
I visited a local group of Torah-ism followers not many month ago, and they believe that by seeking to obey the observances of feast, diet and moral aspects of the Mosaic law, they were storing up treasure/reward in Heaven, and that not doing so can be dangerous to the spiritual well-being of the follower of Christ.
(sigh)
What's sad is the extreme pragmatism so many have allowed themselves to sink into, even to the extent of, "This is what I believe, and nothing will change my mind about it..."
That is the earmark of the current state of so many who profess to love and follow Christ Jesus.

How do we 'earn' a free gift?Well, they can keep their superirregation for their own lawns. I prefer what Christ did for us all, with His having paid for it all, and that we ONLY earn reward in Heaven from Him living His Life through us.

Be there. Done it. Got away from it. I was young at the time. My Mom dabbled in so much of this occultism.Good stuff.

Romans 5:15-16 (KJV) But not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. And not as it was by one that sinned, so is the gift: for the judgment was by one to condemnation, but the free gift is of many offences unto justification.

My Mom believes it was still biblical amongst false doctrines.Wow. Did she ever get out of that?

When I read, “we ONLY earn reward in Heaven from Him living His Life through us.", I pretty much thought in terms of 'free gift' rather than 'earn a reward'. That's why I posted what I did.Uh, I don't think I said anything about gifts in that post.

MM........the person who says........"This can not touch me" is the same person who will same, "I know everything"!Many people might look at this thread and think, "What a far off topic. It isn't going to touch me..."

Now that is the definition of "oxymoron"..........believes it was still biblical amongst false doctrines. My Mom believes it was still biblical amongst false doctrines.
Sorry LOL. they aren't biblical = she views it as it is.Now that is the definition of "oxymoron"..........believes it was still biblical amongst false doctrines.
"False doctrines" can not be Biblical!

I’m still a bit confused…Oh, no. Not that. I was speaking of what may also be called "treasure in Heaven." I wasn't talking about salvation. That is indeed a gift that cannot be earned.

I think it's the word 'earn' that is a bit perplexing. Could you please elaborate on the phrase 'earn reward in heaven'?and that we ONLY earn reward in Heaven from Him living His Life through us.
